Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Assist the department in managing expectations surrounding pre- and post-patient care.
  • Obtain or review patient demographic information, insurance information, and referral numbers.
  • Review clinical records for completeness, including authorizations, signatures, missing data, and other patient information.
  • Answer multiple department telephones, triage incoming calls, respond to questions, direct calls, and document messages in the appropriate software.
  • Greet visitors and callers, handle their inquiries, and direct them to the appropriate employee.
  • Work cooperatively with fellow employees to solve problems and improve the smooth and efficient flow of the practice.
  • Provide coverage for coworkers' responsibilities when assigned or as needed.
  • Develop and promote effective methods of communicating regularly with physicians, managers, peers, trainees, and staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information.
  • Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
  • Provide after-visit care follow-up for patients in the Dermatology triage division serving a multi-location, 35-faculty practice.
  • Receive patient phone calls and voicemail messages regarding postoperative care, instructions, medication questions, laboratory tests, and related matters, acting as a liaison between physicians and patients.
  • Review patient records.
  • Complete daily call logs and prior-authorization logs in the department's Box system.
  • Communicate and coordinate care and insurance requirements with physicians.
  • Provide cross-coverage for inbox review as needed.
  • Provide cross-coverage for assigned faculty on the Aftercare team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
