Gilead posts $11B loss on pipeline acquisitions despite 10% product sales growth

Gilead Sciences reported strong commercial performance in Q2 2026, with product sales excluding Veklury rising 10% to $7.6 billion. HIV revenue grew 12% to $5.7 billion, led by Biktarvy at $3.8 billion and Descovy at $967 million. These acquisitions included Arcellx, which gives Gilead full control of anito-cel, a CAR-T treatment for multiple myeloma pending FDA approval by December 2026. The company raised its 2026 product-sales guidance to $30.1–$30.4 billion. Gilead also reported encouraging progress beyond HIV, with liver-disease revenue up 10% and Trodelvy breast-cancer treatment sales rising 26% to $457 million.

Gilead Sciences beats Q2 estimates with $7.8B revenue as PrEP sales top $1B for first time

Gilead Sciences reported strong Q2 results, with revenue of $7.80 billion, beating analyst estimates of $7.35 billion. The 10.2% year-on-year growth was driven by its HIV franchise, particularly Biktarvy and the PrEP segment, alongside advances in oncology and liver disease treatments. CEO Daniel O'Day highlighted that quarterly PrEP sales doubled year-on-year, exceeding $1 billion for the first time. New product launches, including Trodelvy in breast cancer and Livdelzi in liver disease, contributed to the results. The company raised its full-year revenue guidance to $30.25 billion at the midpoint and increased adjusted EPS guidance by 44.1%. During the earnings call, analysts questioned management about prescription trends, product strategies, revenue diversification, regulatory interactions, and the impact of US insurance changes on Biktarvy's growth.
