Requirements
  • At least 4 years of experience, including a demonstrated track record of providing investment advice and consulting or strategy for retirement plans.
  • Strong understanding of the defined contribution landscape, including fiduciary topics, investments, plan design trends, administrative practices, employee engagement, retirement readiness trends, and the broad range of service providers.
  • Ability to contribute to developing new ideas and ways to solve client problems and improve team efficiency at the local and zone levels.
  • Track record of building intellectual capital for business development and client delivery.
  • Strong presentation skills.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the lead consultant and advisor to a book of defined contribution clients with plans between $25 million and $500 million in assets.
  • Support clients on an ongoing basis with plan investments, plan design and fee benchmarking, recordkeeping vendor management, fiduciary governance practices, and employee engagement strategies.
  • Present plan review and investment review reports to clients for advisory and Outsourced Chief Investment Officer engagements.
  • Retain and grow a book of business by developing long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with clients, decision-makers within the existing client base, and other Mercer lines of business.
  • Use artificial intelligence and technology-enabled tools to support the work.
  • Serve as the subject-matter expert on defined contribution topics and explain the ways Mercer can support client initiatives, including plan design consulting, investment advisory services, and delegated Outsourced Chief Investment Officer services.
  • Conduct plan document, Summary Plan Description, operational, and compliance reviews as needed, and apply strategic plan design knowledge of defined contribution retirement plans.
  • Oversee the request for proposal and request for information marketing process, strategy, and transition, and present the results to clients.
  • Understand the defined contribution landscape, anticipate and uncover client needs, and create scopes of services around those needs.
  • Ensure timely delivery and accuracy of all client work.
  • Ensure compliance and professional standards in work processes, including transparency and peer review for teams and projects.
  • Cultivate new business through professional networks, events, and conferences.
  • Participate in sales activities and assist consultants and sales professionals in developing opportunities and corresponding strategies.

  • Demonstrated experience in a client management role and business development.
  • Ability to handle client inquiries on a day-to-day basis, evaluate issues and objections, and assess operational and plan design issues.
  • Experience conducting client seminars and presenting at conferences while effectively communicating a point of view and thought leadership.

US employers plan 3.2% merit pay rises for 2027 amid economic uncertainty

US employers plan to maintain moderate salary increases in 2027, according to Marsh's Mercer QuickPulse survey of 1,001 organisations. Base salary merit increases are projected at 3.2%, with total salary increases at 3.5%, marking four consecutive years of similar rates. Economic uncertainty continues influencing compensation decisions, with 57% of employers expecting at least moderate impact. High Tech (3.8%), Banking (3.7%), and Energy (3.6%) lead in merit budgets, whilst Consumer Goods (2.9%) and Healthcare (3.0%) lag behind. Employers expect to promote 8.4% of their workforce in 2027, down from 8.6% in 2026. Off-cycle salary adjustments remain common, with 64% of organisations providing them. AI adoption in compensation planning is growing, with 70% of organisations reporting some automation, primarily for market pricing recommendations and benchmarking.

Marsh beats Q1 estimates with $7.6B revenue, $3.29 EPS as organic growth hits 5%

Marsh reported Q1 revenue of $7.6 billion, up 7.6% year-over-year, beating the consensus estimate of $7.38 billion by 2.88%. Earnings per share came in at $3.29, compared to $3.06 in the prior-year quarter, surpassing the consensus estimate of $3.21 by 2.46%. Key metrics showed mixed performance against analyst expectations. Consolidated organic revenue growth of 5% exceeded the 3.5% estimate, whilst consulting organic growth of 5% topped the 4.4% forecast. However, Guy Carpenter's organic growth of 2% fell short of the 4.2% estimate. Geographically, Marsh's EMEA division generated $1.21 billion in revenue, up 14.1% year-over-year and beating estimates. Mercer consulting revenue reached $1.66 billion, an 11% increase that surpassed the $1.58 billion consensus.
