Iowa State University’s Thielen Student Health Center (TSHC) is seeking an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) to join our healthcare team. This position provides primary and urgent care, supports student mental health and coordinates with specialty providers, and promotes student success through compassionate, high-quality ambulatory care.
What You’ll Do:
Patient Care
Provide primary health care services in a student health center.
Assess, diagnose, and treat illnesses and manage chronic health problems.
Develop and coordinate individualized patient care plans.
Collaboration & Student Support
Work with integrity and compassion to support a population that is often seeking healthcare independently for the first time.
Support holistic student wellbeing by working collaboratively with colleagues within Thielen Student Health Center and the Student Health and Wellness unit.
Collaborate with campus partners, mental health professionals, pharmacists, and local healthcare practitioners to ensure comprehensive care and support.
Participate in specialized services such as the travel clinic or allergy clinic.
Educate students and their spouses/domestic partners to empower them in their healthcare decisions.
Compliance & Documentation
Ensure clinical documentation is accurate, thorough, and completed in a timely manner.
Maintain compliance with all regulatory, payor, and university policies.
Evaluate clinical concepts, procedures, and program effectiveness.

Thielen Student Health Center is the on-campus health clinic serving Iowa State University students and their spouses/domestic partners. Our mission is to support the health and wellness of students so they can thrive both academically and personally.
We provide a full spectrum of services, including:
Primary care
Urgent care
Psychiatry and mental health collaboration
Sexual health care
Onsite pharmacy, lab, and radiology services

This position serves at the pleasure of university administration and is exempt from certain P&S policies.

• Responds to complicated inquiries, provides training, and provides direction to lower-level staff
• May provide supervision for one to two other staff (i.e., leads a small work team)
• May lead projects for which well-defined practices and procedures may not exist
• Provides guidance to students
