The Operations Engineer for Avant Organics supervises the strategic planning, execution, and maintenance of infrastructure and equipment within buildings and facilities specialized in Aromatic and Specialty Chemical processes. They are responsible for designing and supervising the implementation of facility expansion, layout, diverse systems, and controls. Additionally, they ensure that all operational activities adhere to company standards and regulatory requirements.
In addition to the responsibilities, you will be tasked with updating systems, conducting machinery repairs, implementing proactive maintenance measures, and meticulously documenting operational procedures and processes. As an operations engineer, it is imperative to continually seek avenues for enhancing quality and efficiency while simultaneously identifying opportunities for cost reduction.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Determining facility and equipment specifications by gathering and analyzing data, blueprints, and reports. Analyzing project costs and preparing budgets.
- Planning and coordinating infrastructure and equipment maintenance schedules and activities. Coordinating and overseeing contractors performing maintenance activities.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, building codes, and health and safety standards. Preparing reports and compliance documentation.
- The Operations Engineer will gather and review data concerning facility or equipment specifications based on thorough financial planning and cost analysis of a facility.
- Determine what particular needs the project has and develop management control systems that will reduce costs.
- Must learn and understand product and operational accounting methods.
- Evaluating operational systems and facility infrastructure to ascertain and improve operational efficiencies with the aromatic and specialty chemical processes.
- Assess chemical processes to identify areas that need to be modified or optimized to comply with industry standards. Perform analyses of operational processes, resource allocation, energy use, and safety processes, and recommend and implement improvements.
- Must have in-depth understanding of the production schedules, engineering specifications, process flows, and other information about the process of the facility. Use this knowledge of the methods and activities to determine ways that processes can be refined to make the manufacturing or delivery of services more efficient.
- Researching and developing new processes, equipment, and products. Developing detailed layouts for equipment, processes, and workflow.
- Evaluating existing manufacturing processes and identifying areas for improvement. Determining problem resolutions and implementing improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering.
- Ability to work with others on a team to accomplish goals.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, maintain detailed and accurate records, and prepare clear and concise written reports.
- Ability to apply engineering principles and techniques to the solution of equipment, buildings, and infrastructure. Strong analytical thinker.
- Ability to prepare engineering specifications, statements of work, and estimates for a wide range of facility related projects.
- At least 3 years of experience as facilities engineer or in a similar role.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
