The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek Inpatient Medical Oncologist (Oncologist Hospitalist) to join the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Medical Oncology. Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience. This is a brand new position for us!!  Great opportunity!

Position Overview

The Inpatient Medical Oncologist (Oncologist Hospitalist) provides comprehensive inpatient care for adult patients with cancer, collaborating closely with outpatient/primary oncologists, advanced practice providers, nursing/support staff, and other specialists. This role involves overseeing and managing the acute medical care of hospitalized cancer patients, including those undergoing chemotherapy, immunotherapy and clinical trials. The position requires handling complex medical conditions, coordinating multi-disciplinary care, and supporting the transition of patients from hospital to outpatient care.

Division Overview
The Division of Medical Oncology’s mission is to provide cutting-edge, compassionate care to those suffering from solid tumor malignancies through Team Science. Team Science is a philosophical approach that integrates scientific discoveries into the care given to patients. As a national leader, we bring 21st century innovative therapies, including cell therapy, molecular diagnostic and therapeutic approaches, and immunotherapy advances to our cancer patients.

Because there are no routine cancers, all our clinicians are subspecialized. We work in tumor-specific multidisciplinary teams with surgical, radiation and subspecialty departments to determine the optimal care and to offer participation to the most promising clinical trials.

The care we provide is highly coordinated through our subspecialty clinics at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center - Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC-James). The Division of Medical Oncology translates the newest cancer research findings by clinical and basic scientists working together to transform patient care and offer realistic hope for cures. Participation in clinical trials at the OSUCCC-James has led to multiple FDA- approved new standards of care for the treatment of various cancers.

Requirements
Required Qualifications: Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).  Completion of accredited Oncology/Hematology Fellowship. Candidates must be Board Certified in Internal Medicine and board eligible or certified in Medical Oncology, as well as able to meet medical licensure requirements in Ohio.  Active certification from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) required.

Faculty Defined
Clinical faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with titles of assistant professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical and professor-clinical. These faculty will have earned a doctor of medicine (MD), doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field. Clinical faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of three to five years. They may be reappointed to successive terms. Their principal career focus is the delivery of exemplary clinical care, and may include teaching, and/or research. ​

Tenure-Track faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD), Doctor of Medicine (MD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Their primary career focus centers on research, service, and teaching. Tenure-track faculty with MD or MD/PhD degrees may also be involved in clinical care.​

Research Faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of research assistant professor, research associate professor, or research professor. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Research faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of one to five years. Their principal career focus is research.​
