The Key To Educator Shortages May Be In The Building: Study.Com Survey Finds District Employees Believe Apprenticeship Programs Can Close Gaps

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. , May 22, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- As educator shortages continue to plague districts across the country – across urban and rural districts – the solution could be in plain sight. According to a recent Study.com survey of employees in K-12 school districts, 75% of respondents indicated they believe teacher apprenticeships can help address educator shortages in their respective schools or districts. Additionally, two-thirds of district employees view apprenticeship programs as a viable option to becoming a classroom teacher. The challenge is lack of awareness of offerings in schools and districts: More than half of respondents (57%) reported they were unsure if their school or district offered apprenticeship programs. Teacher apprenticeship programs have expanded to 45 states as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. With more than 675,000 active apprentices in 2025, survey respondents have a positive perception of those programs despite their level of knowledge on a local level.Even still, the survey found that district employees believe apprenticeship programs offer tremendous benefits to those educator candidates interested in becoming a classroom teacher, including:60.3% of respondents noted the ability to earn a salary while you learnof respondents noted the ability to earn a salary while you learn 42.3% indicated the opportunity to follow a low or no cost pathway to certificationindicated the opportunity to follow a low or no cost pathway to certification 39.4% report the benefit of direct hands-on classroom experience"The growth of teacher apprenticeship programs has exploded in the past few years with more educator candidates looking for alternative programs to entering the classroom," explained Dana Bryson, SVP of Social Impact, Study.com

Elon Musk Aims To Send His Robots To Mars By The End Of 2026

Decrypt’s Art, Fashion, and Entertainment Hub. Discover SCENESpaceX plans to launch its massive Starship rocket to Mars by the end of 2026, carrying Tesla's humanoid Optimus robot, CEO Elon Musk said Thursday, doubling down on previous statements he shared last month. The uncrewed mission aims to test landing reliability before potential human flights begin as early as 2029.Starship will hopefully depart for Mars at the end of next year with Optimus explorer robots! https://t.co/8dzlxzFg0h — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) April 10, 2025The 403-foot-tall Starship, already tapped by NASA for its Artemis lunar program, would mark humanity's most ambitious Mars effort to date. Five launches are planned to coincide with the next Earth-Mars transfer window, a period that occurs roughly every 26 months when the planets' alignment allows for more efficient travel. Each trip is estimated to take between 80-150 days, covering between 34 and 250 million miles (54 and 401 million kilometers) depending on the launch date.Musk said a few weeks ago that while human landings could theoretically follow by 2029, a 2031 timeline appears "more likely" if the initial uncrewed missions prove successful. This would push the achievement well beyond previous pinky promises of putting humans on Mars by 2024.Starship departs for Mars at the end of next year, carrying Optimus. If those landings go well, then human landings may start as soon as 2029, although 2031 is more likely

Study.Com Reimagines The College Experience With New Product Enhancements

College Saver improvements are designed to boost self-confidence and lessen academic anxietyMOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., April 8, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Study.com, provider of an award-winning online platform for K-12 curriculum, college courses and test preparation, is rolling out enhancements to its successful College Saver platform designed to support the evolving needs of students pursuing higher education. Study.com also has introduced an AI-driven TOEFL test prep experience offering dynamic practice and instruction as well as individualized recommendations based on performance.Building Self-Confidence through College SaverA Study.com survey conducted earlier this year found nearly three-quarters of younger adults (under 35 years old) with some college but no degree said they would re-enroll in courses if they felt more confident in their ability to balance coursework with other work and life responsibilities. Nearly 72% of those respondents also reported being negatively impacted by academic stress and anxiety. Rebuilding that confidence could be key to getting more learners to re-engage in higher education. To help reduce the anxiety many learners feel, especially around testing, Study.com has removed proctored exams from its courses, allowing students to take open note and open book tests. Additionally, grading is more evenly distributed across assessments and assignments to further alleviate those concerns. Recognizing the significant number of students who are taking courses after a break from schoolwork, Study.com is introducing expanded academic tutoring and coaching, including degree planning support which can provide students with greater insight on their pathway to completion."We've heard from our learners that their experience with our courses helps them build the confidence they need to move forward in their education journey," explained Laura Dansbury, VP of Product Management, Study.com
