Requirements
  • A vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ and agreement with the Joni and Friends statement of faith.
  • At least 2 years of nonprofit experience.
  • A graduate degree, or equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form and organize and prioritize daily tasks with varied deadlines.
  • Attention to detail, commitment to accuracy, flexibility, ability to work independently, and collaborative work habits.
  • Basic understanding of customer relationship management systems such as Salesforce.
  • Current knowledge of state and federal laws regarding planned gifts and estates.
  • A strong sense of confidentiality.
  • Working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, and the Internet.
  • Ability to perform sedentary office work, operate a computer and standard office equipment, communicate clearly, and occasionally stand, walk, bend, reach, or lift and carry items up to 20 pounds.
  • Active attendance at a church whose statement of faith does not contradict Joni and Friends’ Statement of Faith.
Responsibilities
  • Support the overall objectives of Joni and Friends’ Development department under the supervision of the Chief Marketing Officer.
  • Develop, execute, and manage a grant proposal strategy in collaboration with the Chief Marketing Officer and Directors, while collaborating with internal teams to foster and improve relationships with current ministry partners.
  • Maintain relationships with domestic and international field teams and collaborate with existing and new funding partners to better serve churches and people living with disabilities.
  • Work with Development Directors to grow annual funding from $2 million to more than $5 million.
  • Oversee and manage contract grant writers preparing grant proposals for more than 70 grants per year.
  • Manage gift cultivation and data in Salesforce, acknowledge gifts within 24 hours, report to foundation partners on gift impact, and provide monthly progress reports to the Chief Marketing Officer.
  • Research, prepare, and approve proposals and reports for granting organizations, and maintain records of proposal and report-back due dates.
  • Work with Development Officers on strategies and plans for pre-asks for major events to increase giving.
  • Perform other duties and projects assigned by the supervisor to support department and organizational needs.
  • Model Joni and Friends’ Christian beliefs and practices to advance its gospel mission during working and nonworking hours.
  • Support fellow staff and volunteers by praying for one another, sharing Scripture, and setting an example of faithful Christian living.
  • Engage with people living with disabilities with love, dignity, and conduct that commends and proclaims the gospel.
  • Participate in or lead prayer and worship during meetings, events, and outreaches.
  • Affirm the Joni and Friends Statement of Faith annually and avoid conduct or religious beliefs inconsistent with it.
  • Uphold and advance Joni and Friends’ mission, vision, and values.
