Requirements

Responsibilities

The Physician will provide primary health care services to ambulatory patients within the specified within the
Specified population served by Imperial Valley Family Care Medical Group
The Physician will practice preventative and corrective care within the realm of competence, they will care for adult patients and children
They will include in their care early stages of illness as well as long-term disease and the supervision of the well
Appropriate information and health education may be distributed the patient and the family concerning the
Communicate immediately to the acting supervising physician in cases which the practitioner in cases which the
Provider identifies as a medical emergency
Provide immediate emergency treatment in the absence of acting supervisor or other Physician
Institute appropriate therapy consistent with the agreed upon protocols and level of knowledge without further

Standard of Practice:

- The Physician will provide primary health care services to ambulatory patients within the specified within the

specified population served by Imperial Valley Family Care Medical Group.

- The Physician will practice preventative and corrective care within the realm of competence, they will care for adult patients and children.

- They will include in their care early stages of illness as well as long-term disease and the supervision of the well.

- Appropriate information and health education may be distributed the patient and the family concerning the

diagnosis and the plans for therapy as part of this close collaboration.

- The Physician will at all times be a teacher of patient health, “instructing and counseling patients.”

- The Physician will be prepared to “lecture and demonstrate” as a ‘health’ resource person to both medical and nonmedical persons.

- With the ambulatory care setting of the offices of Imperial Valley Family Care Medical Group, the Physician will exercise the following options, after having assessed the patient’s status.

- Assume the role of supervising Physician by taking and dictating medical histories. These include identifying

information, chief complaint, present illness, past history, social history, a complete systems review, perform a

complete physical examination and include an impression or diagnosis.

- Evaluate the presence and severity of disease within the realm of their competence, keeping the Primary Physician abreast of pertinent developments as indicated.

- Order medication in protocols mutually agreed by the acting supervising physician and the practitioner.

- Record in systematic order in the chart, pertinent information relative to the patient condition and progress.

- The Problem Oriented Record System is the approved method of documenting patient care given.

- Order x-ray examination and laboratory examination. These examinations may be ordered after consultation

with the acting supervising physician or independently as such are detailed in the treatment plan.

- Order and execute treatment as deemed necessary within the guideline of the attached Protocols.

- Gather data for review and disposition by the physician.

- Perform specified procedures approved by the acting supervising physician and as provided as an attachment (Exhibit D) to this document.

- Initiate appropriate therapy as suggested or requested in writing by a consulting physician (i.e.

Gastroenterologist, Oncologist, etc.)

- Communicate immediately to the acting supervising physician in cases which the practitioner in cases which the

Provider identifies as a medical emergency.

- Provide immediate emergency treatment in the absence of acting supervisor or other Physician.

- Institute appropriate therapy consistent with the agreed upon protocols and level of knowledge without further

consolation with the acting supervising physician. Immediate supervision by the acting supervising physician is

not required.

- Approve for refill maintenance medications when such approval is requested by a Pharmacist. Prescribe
