Corporate Development Intern

Axle is seeking a Corporate Development Intern to assist with the day-to-day functions of our Corporate Development team. In this role, you’ll gain hands-on experience exploring new markets, evaluating growth opportunities, and leveraging emerging AI tools to drive smarter decision-making. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to high-impact projects while building a strong foundation in M&A, corporate strategy, and business development. This role requires the ability to work five days per week in our Tysons, VA office. 

Responsibilities:

• AI Research and utilization measurement through studying and operating tools to streamline reporting and dashboards.

• Creating new tools utilizing AI to support day to day functions

• Take notes during team meetings, document action items and keep team members accountable on follow ups

• Update Trackers (Excel and CRM) – add in relevant details related to any companies we’re engaging with (meeting details, dates, context of conversations, next steps)

• Identify, research, and document relevant data related to target companies

• Identify market data relevant Axle for input into CD Newsletters (e.g. executive orders, funding, contract wins, critical acquisitions)

• Assist in creation of PowerPoint documents (incl. Axle CD-focused slick sheet, company tear sheets, CD presentations, CD-related AI training, etc.)

• General Admin & Special Projects: Supporting day-to-day activities and project work as needed.

Qualifications:

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field 

• Strong academic performance (GPA of 3.4 or above)

• Experience with emerging AI technologies 

• Familiarity with PowerPoint (creating professional presentations/deal decks).

• Ability to analyze markets, industries, and competitors.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Attention to detail while working with complex data.

• Ability to synthesize findings into clear insights and recommendations.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Organizational and time-management skills for fast-paced deal work.

• Demonstrated interest in M&A, corporate strategy, or strategic growth (through coursework, clubs, case competitions, etc.)

• This role requires the ability to work five days per week in our Tysons, VA office.
