Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Two to three years of experience performing grade analysis, sampling, or laboratory/inspection work, including leading customer audits, is required.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and written operating procedures is required.
  • Ability to interpret data and communicate suggestions for improvement is required.
  • Intermediate mathematics skills and proficient data-entry skills are required; Excel knowledge is required.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced production environment is required.
  • Understanding of worker instructions, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) processes and auditing, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and safety practices is required.
  • Ability to work under limited supervision and meet output standards, schedules, and deadlines is required.
  • Ability to perform intense visual concentration, identify problems, and make routine decisions is required.
  • Ability to ascend and descend multilevel equipment, work from elevated locations, climb ladders, cross high catwalks, and walk plant areas is required.
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary is required.
  • A background and drug test are required after accepting the position.
Responsibilities
  • Perform quality-control functions, quality-system audits and processes, and final-product inspections to determine product quality and grade.
  • Perform intermediate mathematical calculations and enter, interpret, and report quality data.
  • Inform appropriate personnel about product nonconformities.
  • Perform sanitation duties by mechanically dismantling and reassembling food-processing equipment and cleaning floors, walls, and related facilities.
  • Mix and use chemicals for cleaning and sanitizing equipment while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Follow documented policies and procedures to determine whether products meet specifications.
  • Adhere to procedures and practices associated with food safety, food security, and food quality.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience in food processing and lean manufacturing is highly desired.
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) is preferred.
  • Experience using common inspection tools such as sieves and scales is preferred.
