Requirements
  • Masters in Social Work (MSW) or PhD in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or a related field.
  • LCSW (preferred); alternatively, LMSW or LMHC
  • SIFI certification (preferred, but not required)
  • Significant social work experience (minimum 4 years, more preferred) including at least 3+ years supervising social workers and/or case managers in the social services field.
  • Experience delivering services to people impacted by the criminal legal system, particularly women.
  • Experience working with and knowledge of reentry, social service, and behavioral health service providers in the five boroughs of New York City.
  • Experience planning and leading participant/client groups.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Composure when confronted with people in crisis.
  • Comfort giving and receiving constructive feedback in the context of supervisor/employee relationships.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to alternatives to incarceration, gender-responsive services, trauma-informed care, culturally informed and inclusive programming, person-centered and judgment-neutral language when communicating about people with criminal legal involvement, substance use disorders, and mental health challenges, affirming spaces for LGBTQI+ participants, and anti-racist principles.
Responsibilities
  • Directly supervising LMSW and reentry care coordination team members including individual weekly check-ins to monitor caseload progress, organization and leadership of regular team meetings, preparation of annual performance reviews, and identification and proposal of appropriate training opportunities.
  • Overseeing and improving the referral and intake process to maximize efficiency and scale, including administration of assessment tools, interviews, and timelines.
  • Devising and delivering a new aftercare success program to support participants' focus on long-term stabilization during transition through the completion of the program.
  • Providing timely and critical feedback to staff on the development and modification of individualized service plans, goal plans, and aftercare success plans to ensure that planned interventions are robust, effective, clinically appropriate, and feasible.
  • Planning, development, and management of all participant wellness programming, including two to four weekly workshops/events (virtual and in-person), ensuring that programming is culturally engaging, trauma-informed, and gender-responsive.
  • Cultivating relationships with the reentry and social services community throughout New York City, including arranging introductions and site visits, facilitating virtual meet-and-greets for staff, and building internal directories for housing, behavioral health, benefits, education, and other resources.
  • Conducting regular reviews of the case management system to ensure quality and completion of important program records, including intake, case notes, service/goal plans, and external referrals.
  • Assisting Senior Director with data collection, reporting to Fedcap and funders, program design/development, hiring, written procedures, and other operational functions as needed.
  • Directing MSW Intern program.
