Requirements
- This position is designed to provide you with technical challenges, while also providing mentorship to guide you for a successful career. Your focus will be the design and development and testing of new power circuits, with your tasks being electrical component evaluations, schematic capture, and circuit simulation. You will also have hands-on assignments in the engineering lab, which includes building and testing the circuits you have designed, followed by environmentally stressing these circuits to find their design limits
- The successful candidate is enrolled in a BS or MS of Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Electronics. In this role, the candidate must be self-motivated to embrace challenges, with the ability to ask questions and seek support from mentors and other engineers
- Attended BS or MS courses in power electronics, analog and digital circuits
- You have hands-on experience in university or engineering labs
- You are a highly motivated, self starting individual with a broad set of skills and never afraid of facing complex technical challenges
- You are a solution oriented individual with a strong analytical mindset
- You have strong communication skills and can easily tailor your communications to suit the audience
- You can adapt quickly or propose changes needed to achieve early results in a timely fashion
- You embrace challenges and take commitments and deliver results within reasonable expectations
- You are a positive team player
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S
- Must live in the US at both the time of application AND at the time the internship begins
- Must be either a rising Junior, Senior or Graduate student in college
- Must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0, transcripts are required
- Must be an enrolled student at both the time of application AND at the time the internship begins
- Must be able to work 40 hours a week for 12 weeks (full-time 3 months)
- Must be able to work pacific standard time (PST)
- Enrolled in a Electrical Engineering Graduate program
- Familiar with Motor Control hardware (gate drives, high power MOSFETs, current sensors, etc)
- Familiar with advanced control techniques of Motor Control (FOC, DTC, etc)
- Familiar with PCB design software, spice and power electronics simulation
- Hands on experience working with hardware and firmware in the lab
- Experience using digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and hi-pot measurements
- Excited to work in the eVTOL aircraft industry
- Ability to work in a teaming environment, with good interpersonal and communications skills
Responsibilities
- Designing and Testing of Power Electrical Systems includes:
- DC/DC power conversion systems
- Power distribution networks
- Aircraft protection schemes for both low and high voltage systems
- High Voltage battery management and energy storage systems
- Weight optimizing high power inductors
Desired Qualifications
- Previous internship experience with power electronics is a plus
- Familiarity with SiC devices is a plus
