Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain an integrated brand market access plan for all Primary Care brands covering payer marketing, contracting strategy, and pricing strategy.
  • Translate portfolio-level access priorities into brand-specific execution plans aligned with enterprise gross-to-net objectives.
  • Define payer value propositions, messaging, and positioning for Primary Care brands with access marketing resources.
  • Ensure brand-level pricing and contracting strategies optimize net trade sales and gross-to-net outcomes across payer, group purchasing organization, and channel segments.
  • Define and monitor brand- and portfolio-level access performance metrics, including access quality, access speed, gross-to-net performance, and launch readiness.
  • Allocate access support and resources across legacy, growth, and launch brands according to lifecycle stage, launch timing, and business priority.
  • Adjust access plans in response to IRA drug-pricing dynamics, 340B changes, pharmacy benefit manager and payer consolidation, and formulary changes.
  • Serve as the primary communication and accountability point between United States Market Access and Pfizer Patient Services and the Primary Care business-unit president and franchise leads.
  • Represent Primary Care business-unit access needs to United States Market Access and Pfizer Patient Services leadership and escalate resource gaps, strategic misalignment, and unresolved cross-functional tensions.
  • Partner with Primary Care franchise leads to translate brand profit-and-loss objectives into access, contracting, and payer-marketing priorities.
  • Ensure enterprise-level decisions balance revenue maximization with gross-to-net discipline.
  • Drive proactive cross-functional collaboration, strategic ownership, and enterprise-level decision-making at the business-unit interface.
  • Own the access chapter of strategic brand plans for Primary Care pipeline assets.
  • Identify and close access-readiness gaps involving payer coverage, specialty-pharmacy pull-through, reimbursement pathways, and formulary positioning.
  • Establish and track launch access key performance indicators with strategic account management, brand teams, and customer engagement teams.
  • Define three-year market access plans for pipeline assets and incorporate gross-to-net inputs into long-range financial planning.
  • Coordinate United States Market Access and Pfizer Patient Services support across access marketing, contracting strategy, pharmacy engagement, strategic account management, and patient services before engaging the Primary Care business unit.
  • Maintain accountability for brand-level access pull-through and coordinate with strategic account management to convert contracted access terms into prescribing.
  • Identify and resolve gaps or misalignment across functional teams before escalating to functional leaders or the business-unit president.
  • Establish ways of working that prevent fragmentation, redundancy, and misaligned seniority across supporting functions.
  • Serve as a limited, structured interface for Market Access Operations on contract-execution issues requiring brand-level context.
  • Lead and develop a team aligned to Primary Care brands and franchise clusters while maintaining accountability for brand-level access outcomes and deliverables.
  • Coach and develop team members to operate as strategic owners with accountability for outputs.
  • Identify internal candidates for team roles and pursue external sourcing when internal talent is unavailable.
  • Create career-development pathways within the Primary Care access vertical.
  • Coach, develop, and engage direct reports and participate in recruitment and selection of staff.
  • Participate as a core member of the United States Market Access and Pfizer Patient Services Leadership Team and contribute to enterprise strategy and cross-functional alignment.
  • Model Pfizer values and leader behaviors.

Medicus Pharma secures Pfizer ADC deal with $2M funding, advances SkinJect for rare cancer treatment

Medicus Pharma has secured a development and licensing agreement with Pfizer for a CD228-targeted antibody-drug conjugate programme focused on solid tumours, including refractory melanoma. Pfizer is providing approximately $2 million in development funding, plus inventory and infrastructure support. CEO Dr Raza Bokhari said the deal allows Medicus to continue from where Pfizer concluded its Phase 1 dose-escalation work, strengthening the company's position in precision oncology. Medicus is also advancing its SkinJect programme for basal cell carcinoma. Final clinical trial results identified the 200-microgram patch as the optimal dose for future studies. The company is preparing for the FDA-approved pivotal SkinJect 005 study whilst recruiting patients. An independent reimbursement analysis suggests SkinJect could achieve reimbursement levels of $25,000 or more per patient.

AbbVie beats Pfizer as top dividend stock with 53-year payout streak and 203% growth

AbbVie offers a smarter long-term dividend investment than Pfizer, despite Pfizer's higher 6.1% yield. AbbVie holds Dividend King status with 53 consecutive years of dividend increases and raised its payout by 5.5% this year to $1.73 per share. Over the past decade, AbbVie increased its dividend by more than 203% compared to Pfizer's 51%. AbbVie's revenue grew 138% during this period, whilst Pfizer's rose just 18%. AbbVie successfully navigated Humira's patent cliff through home-grown immunology drugs Skyrizi and Rinvoq. By 2025, these two drugs generated combined annual sales exceeding $25 billion, replacing Humira's peak revenue and pushing total company revenue to record highs. AbbVie's free-cash-flow dividend payout ratio stands at 65%, lower than Pfizer's 89%.

Pfizer received FDA approval for its updated Comirnaty COVID-19 vaccine on Thursday, with deliveries to pharmacies and clinics beginning immediately. The company's shares were trading at $27.9079 on 28 August. However, the market opportunity has significantly narrowed from pandemic levels. Eligibility is now limited to adults aged 65 and older, plus higher-risk patients aged 5 through 64. Despite Comirnaty having distributed over five billion doses worldwide historically, today's revenue potential is considerably more constrained. Pfizer faces competition from Moderna and the Novavax-Sanofi protein vaccine for this smaller patient pool. The company's current share price sits 5.27% above its estimated value of $26.51, suggesting investors are paying a premium before actual uptake and commercial results become clear.

FDA approves Pfizer-BioNTech XFG-adapted COVID-19 vaccine for high-risk groups

Pfizer and BioNTech have received US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for their 2026-2027 COVID-19 vaccine targeting the XFG variant. The vaccine is approved for adults aged 65 and older, and individuals aged 5 to 64 with underlying conditions that increase risk of severe COVID-19 outcomes. The FDA approval is based on clinical, non-clinical and real-world data demonstrating the vaccine generates strong immune responses against currently circulating SARS-CoV-2 variants, including XFG and other contemporary lineages. The XFG variant was selected following FDA guidance for fall 2026 vaccine composition. The vaccine will begin shipping immediately and will be available in US pharmacies, hospitals and clinics within days. To date, more than five billion doses of COMIRNATY have been distributed globally.
