  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • One year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician preferred
  • Formal training as a Pharmacy Technician plus Certification (State Board of Pharmacy)

Responsibilities
  • Assist pharmacist in performing duties in filling prescriptions
  • Type labels, quote prices, write receipts, count and pour, and take prescriptions information from SPMC clients
  • Clerical functions include pricing prescriptions, ordering and checking in merchandise, price changing, inventory monitoring, print and add daily Rx logs, copy various reports and send to appropriate personnel
  • Keep pharmacy shelves, fixtures and medications bottles neat, clean and orderly
  • Ensure pharmacy is well stocked with child-resistant vials and bottles for dispensing
  • Cash handling duties: accepts payments (cash, check, credit cards) from patients and issues receipts
  • Other financial duties: charge prescription prices to appropriate program or third party payers
  • Abides by infection control policies and procedures as dictated in the Centro del Barrio Infection Control Manual
  • Abides by policies and procedures as dictated by the State Board of Pharmacy and renewing both TSBP and PTCB licenses in a timely manner prior to expiration date and on hazardous materials as dictated in the Employee Safety Handbook
  • Participates in the agency’s Quality Improvement Program
  • Abides by all safety policies as dictated in the Employee Safety Manual
  • Perform other pharmacy related duties as assigned

Its services are designed for underserved and low-income residents, with care available regardless of ability to pay, funded by program service fees, federal grants, and private contributions, and it accepts Medicare and Medicaid. The organization began in 1971 as a counseling program and expanded over the years to medical, dental, and OB-Gyn/perinatal clinics, building partnerships with local health systems to extend access. CentroMed aims to increase access to affordable, comprehensive healthcare through a network of clinics and community partnerships, serving a broad client base including families, homeless individuals, and vulnerable populations.
