Requirements
  • An associate’s degree, business or trade school degree, and three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in property maintenance and repair is preferred.
  • A valid New York State driver’s license is required.
  • State Central Registry Clearance is required.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Knowledge of building maintenance and repairs is required.
  • The ability to lift 50 pounds is required.
  • Mobility sufficient to drive to and participate in meetings and work at clients’ homes and community facilities is required.
  • Completion of VIRTUS, Corporate Compliance, Defensive Driving, and Core Updates training is required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform general maintenance and minor repairs, including plumbing, electrical, heating, and air-conditioning systems and units.
  • Remodel and maintain properties, including sheetrocking, painting, and masonry.
  • Work with program staff to relocate clients between units, including physically moving client belongings and coordinating logistics.
  • Provide on-site supervision of maintenance staff to ensure work orders are completed correctly and on time.
  • Provide daily updates to the Operations Manager on assigned work orders and update the work-order system as appropriate.
  • Perform regular inspections using the HUD Housing Quality Standards form.
  • Coordinate and work with contracted services for apartment maintenance and upkeep.
  • Maintain a safe environment and report unsafe or unsanitary unit conditions to the Operations Coordinator.
  • Exercise independent judgment and make decisions regarding general apartment operations.
  • Maintain guidelines established by funding sources and Catholic Charities policies and procedures.
  • Perform other assigned tasks and duties.
