About the role
We’re currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Platform Enablement Team.
We support and maintain the core of our web-platform which includes build pipelines, testing automation and the foundational elements of the moonpig web platform such as our serverless multi-app NextJS deployment.
This role will be focussed primarily on the core web platform so having an interest in and experience of building a Serverless deployed multi-app Next.JS platform, using Turborepo for builds and Frontend testing experience would be highly desirable. Any experience using Terraform and Github actions for builds and deployments would be a bonus.
What you’ll be doing:
- You’ll be supporting our core web platform, improving our build processes, our approach to testing and finding ways to improve the effectiveness and reliability of our overall platform.
- Supporting and optimising our GraphQL offering.
- Collaborate cross-functionally and cross-team to implement cross-cutting improvements across the Moonpig platform.
- You will be building scalable and informative documentation in the form of references, guides, and code examples.
- Write and maintain unit, browser and integration tests to ensure system stability.
- Provide support to Web core consuming engineering teams.
Our expectations of our Senior Software Engineers:
- Good engineering comes first - You’ll have a great technical knowledge base and the experience to know what works and what doesn’t. We expect you to apply these skills in making the right decisions and applying best practices wherever possible.
- Technical mentoring and leadership - You’ll be collaborative, inclusive and spreading knowledge wherever possible. People will be looking up to you for technical guidance and part of your role will be to help them on that journey. You will also be responsible for creating the right forums to drive engineering principles and practices across all of engineering. You have the autonomy to drive decisions, but it’s your responsibility to ensure everyone is involved.
- Culture and advocacy - You will be supporting a growth culture (e.g. running lunch & learns, brown bags, etc.) as well as advocating the organisation externally through meetups, blogging, hackathons etc. This is important to us as we are all in this together.
You’ll be a good fit for the role if you:
- You are comfortable collaborating with cross team Engineers and with Agile methodologies.
- Have an interest in the platform and infrastructure part of the frontend stack.
- You have experience writing documentation and understanding the audience to deliver key points and provide clarity on technical topics.
- Experience with TypeScript, React, NextJS, modern CSS frameworks and Apollo GraphQL.
- Understanding event based architecture is a plus.
- Act as a mentor to developers just starting their development journey and/or wanting to further develop their frontend skill set.
