Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to compliance with all National Collegiate Athletic Association, Big Ten Conference, and university rules and regulations are required.
  • Dedication to the full academic development of student-athletes is required.
  • Strong communication, organization, and administrative skills are required.
  • The position requires prolonged sitting and standing, occasional walking, lifting light office materials and equipment up to 20 pounds, manual dexterity, visual acuity, and effective verbal and auditory communication.
  • Employment eligibility verification and work authorization documentation must be completed as required by federal immigration law.
  • Successful completion of a background check is required as a condition of employment.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Coach with the organization, development, and implementation of a competitive National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I women's softball program competing in the Big Ten Conference.
  • Recruit student-athletes.
  • Scout opponents and prospective student-athletes.
  • Coach the softball program.
  • Coordinate team travel.
  • Administer program activities.
  • Conduct fundraising activities.
  • Develop and maintain effective interactions with students, colleagues, university staff, alumni, and the general public.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Head Coach.
Desired Qualifications
  • Recent experience as an elite National Collegiate Athletic Association collegiate student-athlete or professional softball player.
  • A proven record of athletic achievement and deep technical knowledge of softball.
  • A strong desire to transition into collegiate coaching.
  • Prior college coaching experience.
