Irregular Warfare Policy Advisor

As an Irregular Warfare Policy Advisor, you know the fast-paced work environment for executive-level audiences and high performing teams to work with. You will offer your expertise in foreign policy, defense policy, engagement planning, experimentation, and security cooperation. You will support senior DoD policy decisions on the use of Special Operations Forces (SOF) and the conduct of Irregular Warfare by drafting background papers, decision memoranda, and talking points. You will identify gaps in authorities, permissions, and policies, and review military plans and activities for inclusion of national policy goals and directives on IW and the use of SOF. You’ll leverage your excellent communication skills to build relationships across DoD, U.S. agencies and departments, military commands, academia, non-governmental organizations, and international partners to foster information exchange on the use of SOF and the conduct of IW.

You Have:
5+ years of experience with DoD policy, Joint Staff, Combatant Commands, and Theater Special Operations Commands
Experience drafting materials for senior executive leadership, including read-aheads and talking points for bilateral and multilateral international policy-level engagements
Experience with experimentation such as wargame planning or exercise planning
Knowledge of DoD processes and culture
Top Secret clearance
Master’s degree in International Relations or Political Science
Nice If You Have:
Experience preparing and briefing senior executives for policy-level engagements
Experience serving as the lead action officer for trips accompanying principals for international or domestic engagements
Experience supporting Congressional engagements
Experience advising executives on significant security cooperation initiatives
Experience working with Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDC)
Experience with security cooperation, including as a Foreign Area Officer (FAO)
Knowledge of DoD-level planning processes
Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
Clearance:

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $84,600.00 to $193,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
