Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience with DoD policy, Joint Staff, Combatant Commands, and Theater Special Operations Commands
  • Experience drafting materials for senior executive leadership, including read-aheads and talking points for bilateral and multilateral international policy-level engagements
  • Experience with experimentation such as wargame planning or exercise planning
  • Knowledge of DoD processes and culture
  • Top Secret clearance
  • Master's degree in International Relations or Political Science
Responsibilities
  • Support senior DoD policy decisions on the use of Special Operations Forces (SOF) and the conduct of Irregular Warfare by drafting background papers, decision memoranda, and talking points
  • Identify gaps in authorities, permissions, and policies, and review military plans and activities for inclusion of national policy goals and directives on IW and the use of SOF
  • Leverage excellent communication skills to build relationships across DoD, U.S. agencies and departments, military commands, academia, non-governmental organizations, and international partners to foster information exchange on the use of SOF and the conduct of IW
