Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with Tank endorsement is required.
  • A valid Department of Transportation medical certificate with Non-Excepted Interstate self-certification is required.
  • Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and best practices for equipment transport is required.
  • The ability to operate equipment during loading and unloading processes is required.
  • Basic mechanical skills for minor truck and trailer maintenance are required.
  • The ability to work independently and manage time effectively is required.
  • The ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately is required.
  • The ability to read, understand, and navigate using paper or digital maps is required.
  • The ability to sit for long periods is required.
Responsibilities
  • Safely operate a tractor-trailer while reducing risks and liabilities.
  • Load and secure heavy construction equipment and machinery onto the trailer in accordance with State and Federal regulations.
  • Measure load dimensions and weight to comply with oversized/overweight permit requirements and applicable regulations.
  • Perform and document pre-trip and post-trip truck and trailer inspections.
  • Maintain records of trip details, including mileage, fuel consumption, maintenance reports, and hours worked.
  • Coordinate equipment transport and delivery schedules with project managers, equipment operators, and other team members.
  • Adhere to company safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform basic maintenance and repairs on the truck and trailer when necessary.
  • Assist with loading and unloading equipment and materials at job sites.
  • Navigate a tractor-trailer using instructions, maps, or GPS to various on-road and off-road locations.
  • Wear and safely use personal protective equipment.
  • Record hours worked using an electronic logging device in compliance with Hours of Service regulations.
  • Document equipment pickups and deliveries and ensure pickup and delivery accuracy.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of experience operating lowboy trailers and transporting heavy equipment is preferred.
  • A Hazardous Materials endorsement on the Commercial Driver's License is preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills are desirable.
  • Willingness to travel to various job sites as needed is desirable.
