Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10+ to 15 years experience in aerospace engineering leadership
  • Broad experience in interior aircraft engineering and certification to support product line mix including air medical transport systems, ballistic protection, dynamic aircraft seating, and VIP/Head of State interior/cabinetry
  • Proven record of leading engineering strategic goals and diverse engineering teams, with a strong background as a technical contributor
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to a wide range of audiences
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing business conditions and to work with civilian and military customers, the FAA, and other company managers
  • Experience prioritizing, planning resources and budget development
  • Experience negotiating statements of work and technical requirements
  • Ability to plan and implement long-term and short-term initiatives, improve productivity and efficiency, remove barriers, and streamline processes
Responsibilities
  • Strategic planning of and leading high level product development initiatives
  • Overall leadership of business processes and resource planning (people, capital, expenses)
  • Leadership of senior engineering staff and management; overseeing research and development, design, certification, configuration management, and production engineering
  • Developing and mentoring engineering supervisors and managers
  • Improving productivity and efficiency of the Engineering group while maintaining a culture of quality and safety
  • Customer management and setting expectations
  • Coordinate with Certification Manager on new and revised interior aircraft structural, certification (STC) projects, and technical standard order seating projects
  • Proposal estimating oversight and contract negotiation for new business
  • Tracking and reporting engineering metrics, schedules and financial information to management
  • Providing overall leadership and accountability for engineering strategy from proposals to design to production liaison and customer support
  • Managing and developing a high-performance team in a rapidly changing and growing environment
  • Coordinating with Sikorsky Engineering to ensure programs can leverage parent company technology
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience leading engineers who design, prototype, build, custom aftermarket aircraft products for air medical evacuation, VVIP/Head of State interiors, and ballistic protection
  • Experience in high mix low volume engineering design programs
  • Worked for high mix low volume custom aftermarket aerospace products company
