Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience covering consumer stocks, with an emphasis on staples. Buyside experience is essential
  • detailed knowledge of the EU consumer staples sector, including key industry drivers, major players, and emerging trends
  • demonstrated ability to perform detailed fundamental analysis and financial modelling, including experience with valuation techniques
  • track record of generating successful long and short investment ideas
  • strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate investment theses clearly
  • ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced, dynamic investment team environment
  • a self-starter with the ability to manage a pipeline of ideas and work independently
Responsibilities
  • conduct in-depth fundamental research and analysis on European consumer companies, with a strong focus on staples (food & beverages, household products, personal care)
  • develop, pitch, and defend actionable long and short investment ideas to the portfolio manager. Maintain a robust pipeline of high-conviction trade ideas
  • build detailed financial models, and conduct valuation benchmarking to assess the intrinsic value of target companies
  • stay abreast of global staples industry trends and competitive dynamics. Conduct channel checks, expert calls, and management meetings as required
  • work closely with the PM to share insights and provide real-time updates on key developments across the coverage universe
  • initially, the role will focus solely on idea generation and analysis. Over time, and based on performance, there will be an opportunity to take on trading discretion and manage risk
