About the Role
LexisNexis Reed Tech (a division of RELX, Inc) is seeking an experienced Business Unit Controller to join its finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for P&L reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, performing profitability analyses, and identifying opportunities for cost savings in the Government business unit. This is a highly visible role that offers a chance to work directly with senior leadership and shape our business’ future.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement robust cost accounting systems to track costs for various service lines, departments, and projects for the Government business unit
- Prepare detailed cost per unit analyses to determine profit margins across different service offerings
- Allocate overhead costs appropriately to departments and projects
- Analyze spending and costs regularly to highlight inefficiencies and cost reduction opportunities specific to Reed Tech
- Prepare regular revenue price volume reporting and analysis
- Partner with Operations leadership team and department heads to understand cost drivers and provide decision support analysis
- Communicate cost analysis results and recommendations proactively to Reed Tech management
- Support monthly close process by providing timely cost analysis and reporting within 3 business days of month end
- Continuously look for ways to improve analysis methods and processes
- Work closely with the broader LexisNexis finance and accounting teams on central reporting and analysis
- Develop annual P&L budgets and forecasts for the Government business unit
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field;
- Relevant experience in cost accounting and analysis
- Strong financial acumen and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities with attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency in data analysis and cost modeling using Excel
- Knowledge of accounting and budgeting principles
- Ability to manage competing priorities around month end close, annual budgeting and forecasting process, and adhoc requests
Additional Experience
- Knowledge of PeopleSoft and Hyperion financial systems
- Experience with PowerBI
- MBA
