Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree with 1 year of related experience, is typically required.
  • Experience in a similar role purchasing parts, materials, or supplies is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in procurement or purchasing roles involving parts, materials, and supplies is required.
  • Strong understanding of the selection, procurement, manufacturing, use, testing, and screening of high-reliability electronic components for space-flight or aerospace applications is required.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while meeting project milestones and schedule commitments is required.
  • Ability to work independently on complex assignments and projects with minimal supervision under general direction is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, is required.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams in support of projects, procurement activities, or operational initiatives is required.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize tasks from multiple stakeholders is required.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, written communication, and verbal communication skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Review procurement requests and obtain moderately complex procurement information, including availability and cost, for electronic, electrical, and electromechanical parts and related services or items.
  • Prepare and process Purchase Requisitions, Procurement Card transactions, and associated procurement documentation.
  • Coordinate with Acquisition Subcontract Managers, Project Parts Engineers, Parts Representatives, vendors, subsystem leads, and requesters to execute procurement actions accurately and on schedule.
  • Track procurement status, maintain procurement databases, and provide regular status updates and reports to project stakeholders.
  • Ensure procurement documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with institutional requirements.
  • Support Return Material Authorization activities and material disposition coordination with vendors and internal organizations.
  • Identify procurement issues proactively to minimize impacts to project schedules and deliverables.
  • Ensure all electronic, electrical, and electromechanical part acquisitions comply with JPL Supply Chain Risk Management requirements.
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical records related to procurement activities and transactions.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working within Enterprise Resource Planning and/or Material Requirements Planning systems.
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to build effective working relationships across diverse teams and organizations.
  • Experience with Oracle Purchasing modules and JPL Procurement Card systems.
  • Working knowledge of JPL purchasing requirements, policies, and procurement processes.
  • Familiarity with electronic component part numbers, part families, and identification methods.
  • A proactive approach to issue resolution and continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of process improvement, operational efficiency, and workflow optimization initiatives.

Loft Orbital to deploy NASA JPL's AI software for real-time Earth disaster monitoring

Loft Orbital has secured an agreement with NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory to host and demonstrate AI software on its space infrastructure. The collaboration, part of JPL's Federated Autonomous MEasurement project funded by NASA's Earth Science Technology Office, will advance on-orbit AI capabilities for Earth science remote sensing. Flight demonstrations began in June 2026, with additional deployments scheduled through 2028. JPL's AI software aims to reduce data latency by processing information in near-real time, delivering urgent insights on wildfires, flooding and natural disasters to emergency responders. The spacecraft will demonstrate autonomous tip-and-queue tasking without ground intervention using intersatellite links. Founded in 2017, Loft Orbital has flown over 25 missions and operates facilities in San Francisco, Colorado and Toulouse, France.
