Requirements
  • Masters or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering obtained from an accredited U.S. college or university, preferably one of the premier civil engineering programs in the U.S.
  • 2-5 years of experience in the design of freeways, interstate highways, and interchanges.
  • Knowledge and experience with MicroStation, Geopak drainage and/or Stormcad, and other applicable software common to the field of hydrology and hydraulics engineering, like HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY8, etc.
  • Demonstrated qualities of leadership and hard work.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, drawings and specifications.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess strong attention to detail and can work in a fast-paced environment; an eagerness to learn and apply your engineering skills to develop creative problem-solving designs/ideas.
  • Strong commitment to high standards, integrity, and ethics.
Responsibilities
  • Managing the projects’ hydrology and hydraulics including flood risk studies, cross and longitudinal drainage design, and storm water management
  • Managing the project’s water quality and water detention studies and design
  • Managing design consultant’s drainage teams to meet the Request for Proposal requirements
  • Identifying objectives and formulating optimizations for the concepts of the project
  • Evaluating alternatives to develop solutions and foresee future problems
  • Preparing technical design documentation, verifying calculations, working with external design teams, and leading the development of all drainage, hydraulic and hydrological-related issues of the bid and technical submission proposal documentation in accordance with Ferrovial Group’s goals
  • Participating in the planning and scheduling of work, as well as the review and approval of tasks to meet bid deadlines
  • Participating in meetings with key stakeholders
  • Ensuring drainage designs can be integrated into construction plans and that the design is feasible for construction
  • Risk tracking and management throughout the bid and construction processes
  • Determining construction quantities to be used for the pricing of the proposal, and developing a winning proposal from a technical standpoint
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with construction inspection or field oversight on projects of similar scale
  • Experience with large-scale water resources projects
  • Familiarity with Spanish or international hydrology and hydraulics standards (e.g., Eurocodes, AASHTO, FHWA, or local standards)
  • Experience with design-build or PPP procurement
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
