- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is required.
- Ability to maintain a professional appearance and conduct at all times is required.
- Understanding of medical office billing is required.
- Supervise and oversee all office operations, including scheduling, billing, staff and patient complaint resolution, budget preparation and review, purchase approval, department payroll, personnel staffing coordination, and practice marketing.
- Manage tasks for the physician.
- Schedule patients as needed.
- Communicate departmental needs to the physician.
- Answer and appropriately direct telephone calls.
- Manage and assist with practice-related projects.
- Order and manage department inventory.
- Promote professional development opportunities within the department.
- Facilitate effective communication among staff members.
- Participate in performance improvement projects.
- Apply knowledge of insurance issues affecting patient care.
- Practice management experience is preferred.
