Requirements
  • High School Degree or General Education Development (GED) is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree or CEGEP in Human Resources, Business or equivalent with HR Certification is preferred.
  • Three years of Human Resources experience is required.
  • Five or more years of Human Resources leadership experience is preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and French is required.

Responsibilities
  • Develop the Human Resources Department by assisting with the development and administration of programs, procedures, and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the HR Department.
  • Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Participate in department staff meetings and attend other meetings/seminars.
  • Process weekly payroll for Lachine hourly employees and bi-weekly payroll for Montreal hourly employees, including weekly updating and sign-off of individual timecards in UKG with shift changes, overtime and both shift and attendance premiums.
  • Maintain Workday (Human Capital Management) for the Lachine Plant. Prepare and analyze reports necessary to carry out the functions of the department and company. Prepare periodic reports for management, as necessary or requested.
  • Fully utilize Human Resources software to the company's advantage.
  • Partner with accounting and corporate payroll to maintain the payroll database.
  • Collaborate with Plant Leadership to ensure understanding of key HR Metrics such as Absence Rate, Cost per Hire, Involuntary and Voluntary Turnover Rates, Overtime Expense, Temporary Employee Percentage, Tenure, Time to Fill, Training Expenses per Employee, and Voluntary and Involuntary Turnover.
  • Assist with utilizing the Learning Management System (LMS) including safety training and human resources training; loading of monthly training modules and generation of statistics and payouts through payroll.
  • Ensure plant employees are completing required training per established deadlines.
  • Continue to assess company training needs including onboarding, management development, production cross-training, and safety.
  • Assist managers with selection and contracting of external training programs and consultants when needed.
  • Provide necessary education and materials to managers and employees including workshops, employee handbooks, and standardized reports.
  • Maintain employee training records.
  • Manage the recruitment process for hourly and salaried employees using procedures necessary to recruit and hire a superior workforce.
  • Conduct recruiting planning meetings when needed staff is identified.
  • Review resumes for all candidates and interview hourly candidates for employment.
  • Serve on employee selection meetings and the safety committee.
  • After weekly schedule is posted by operations, identify and contact the employees necessary to ensure all positions are staffed.
  • Assist with development of Human Resources policies regarding employee relations and safety.
  • Partner with management to communicate Human Resources/Safety policies, procedures, programs and laws.
  • Promote and maintain corporate programs that foster employee engagement such as employee Referral Program, Leading by Example Program, Charitable Giving Program, and others.
  • Recommend employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation.
  • Participate in conduct of investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth.
  • Advise managers and supervisors about steps in the progressive discipline system and counsel on employment issues.
  • Maintain the Corporate Safety Manual for the Lachine plant and ensure site-specific programs are written and maintained.
  • Assist with implementation of company safety and health programs. Track and post CNESST-required data and file reports.
  • Facilitate required monthly safety meetings and other plant-wide initiatives; circulate minutes and ensure timely follow-up on action items.
  • Ensure all monthly safety training is completed and documented for all staff.
  • Administer and publicize the corporate Safety Bingo program at the plant.
  • Administer all Safety Draws and Safety Lunches/Dinners at the plant.
  • Maintain and complete all monthly safety statistics for the facility.
  • Actively promote and engage a culture of safety.
  • Provide day-to-day benefits administration services and assist employees with any claim issues.
  • Develop and schedule benefits onboarding and complete open enrollment annually.
  • Review and file workers compensation claims and work with safety on claims management.
  • Recommend changes in benefits offered, especially new benefits aimed at employee satisfaction and retention.
  • Meet with and greet visitors, direct the use of iLobby, answer and direct incoming calls, document filing, receive and distribute mail and courier, organize outgoing postal and courier shipments, order and organize office supplies, receive and scan invoices for Accounts Payable.
  • Comply with all government and labor legal and government reporting requirements with CNESST and other agencies; maintain minimal company exposure to lawsuits; protect interests of employees and the company; follow HR policies and laws.
  • Assist with organization development addressing succession planning, workforce development, employee retention, and change management.
  • Assist with employee communication and feedback through company meetings, suggestion programs, surveys, newsletters, focus groups, and one-on-one meetings.
  • Help monitor the organization culture to support attainment of company goals and promote employee satisfaction.
  • Assist with company-wide committees including wellness, training, environmental health and safety, activity, and culture and communications committees.
