Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, manufacturing, or an applicable field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years of hands-on experience with Mechatronics systems.
  • One year of experience in adult education and/or training in Mechatronics operation principles.
  • An associate's degree with seven years of hands-on Mechatronics systems experience may satisfy the education equivalency, or a high school diploma/GED with nine years of hands-on Mechatronics systems experience.
  • A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required, or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, regularly use a computer and keyboard, support training delivery for up to 8–10 hours per day, and work in adverse weather conditions during construction.
  • Ability to move training equipment, wear personal protective equipment as needed, and design, develop, and deploy classroom and online training curriculum involving equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to travel independently to other or remote locations by driving.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theories, learning styles, instructional techniques, and methods for instructing and training individuals and groups.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatics, hydraulics, programmable logic controllers, and industrial automation systems used in manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens programmable logic controller programming.
  • Working knowledge of Windows, macOS, Microsoft Office, G Suite, PowerPoint, Keynote, Zoom, and instructional programs.
  • Ability to present course material using a wide variety of media and technology.
  • Ability to coordinate training deliveries, participant registration, logistics, data compilation, quality control, student records, and delivery documentation.
  • Ability to comply with applicable state and federal laws, codes, regulations, safety requirements, and institutional procedures.
  • Ability to pass the institution's criminal history investigation and credential/information verification process.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality Mechatronics training for modern manufacturing automation projects in Brownsville and Corpus Christi.
  • Prepare students for careers in advanced manufacturing automation through hands-on Mechatronics training, theoretical knowledge, and industry-relevant skills.
  • Teach the integration of mechanical, electrical, pneumatics, hydraulics, programmable logic controllers, and industrial automation systems used to automate manufacturing production equipment.
  • Use adult learning theories and learning styles to maximize learner success and course effectiveness.
  • Use varied media to present course materials.
  • Assist with curriculum development projects to maintain course relevance and support customer needs.
  • Assist in scheduling training deliveries, coordinating participant registration and logistics, compiling data, and ensuring quality control measures.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with students, customers, and internal support personnel.
  • Determine course goals and objectives for Business and Cyber Solutions course development.
  • Use varied instructional techniques and develop techniques that accommodate different learning styles.
  • Initiate and maintain interactive classroom discussions.
  • Provide positive reinforcement and motivational incentives.
  • Monitor learner performance and evaluate instructional effectiveness.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with personnel across programs, divisions, and entities to maintain and further develop the program.
  • Assist curriculum and technical assistance efforts supporting the RAMI/TRAIN and COAST projects and other assigned deliveries.
  • Provide status updates to the program director regarding change requests.
  • Work with client and jurisdiction points of contact on coordination, development, and preparation efforts.
  • Assist in marketing courses.
  • Complete and collect student attendance rosters, registration forms, pre-tests, post-tests, course evaluations, and delivery record forms.
  • Submit time worked and travel expenses or receipts within the required timeframe.
  • Maintain and safeguard assigned divisional equipment and property.
  • Perform additional assigned work duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write Spanish at a proficient level.
  • Experience with robotics, sensors, actuators, and control systems.
  • Industry certifications such as Siemens Mechatronics System Certification or FANUC Robotics Certification.
  • Familiarity with computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing and industrial software tools.
  • Experience with Internet of Things, smart manufacturing, and data analytics related to Industry 4.0 technologies.
