Position Summary

The Information Literacy & Digital Services Librarian provides leadership in library instruction, reference services, and digital initiatives. This position is responsible for developing and managing the institution’s digital repository and campus archives, supporting information literacy including AI initiatives, and collaborating with librarians to design and deliver instruction programs.

Duties & Responsibilities

Provides leadership in library instruction by designing, coordinating, and delivering information literacy sessions in partnership with other librarians.

• Leads the development, implementation, and ongoing management of the institutional digital repository, including establishing workflows, policies, metadata standards, and access practices.

• Develops instructional materials, research guides, and documentation supporting the use of library resources and AI

• Provides comprehensive reference and research support to students, faculty, staff, and the Santa Fe community.

• Oversees the management and development of the campus archives, including the acquisition, appraisal, organization, preservation, and access to institutional records and historical materials.

• Establishes and maintains archival policies, and procedures in alignment with professional standards and institutional priorities.

• Collaborates with faculty, staff, and campus partners to identify, collect, and preserve scholarly output and materials of historical significance to the institution.

• Promotes awareness and use of the digital repository and archives.

• Develops and implements assessment strategies to evaluate the effectiveness of library instruction, public services, the digital repository, and archival collections.

• Participates in collection development and supports access to both physical and digital resources.

• Maintains current knowledge of trends and best practices in archives, digital repositories, and scholarly communication.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master's degree or above in Library Science

• 2 years of job-related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual (English and Spanish)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to use computers including library programs, Microsoft tools, and Google Workspace and learn new technology skills as needed. 

• Ability to accurately shelve and organize library materials using the Library of Congress Classification system. 

• Able to provide excellent customer service. 

• Skilled in decision-making and problem solving. 

• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both oral and written forms with library staff and patrons. 

• Ability to follow instructions accurately and with an attention to detail. 

• Knowledge of library policies, procedures, and best practices. 

Physical Demands

• The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table, or while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, or walking within the library.

• The employee frequently lifts both light and moderately heavy objects, operates tools and equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity.

• Work is primarily conducted at a public service desk or within the library stacks. 

• This position requires frequent interaction with a diverse patron population and may involve managing stressful situations, including addressing concerns or complaints from frustrated or occasionally confrontational individuals.

• The employee must remain calm, professional, and solution-oriented while upholding library policies and maintaining a positive, inclusive environment for all users. 

Work Hours

• On campus position. Typically, 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Fridays. May be required to work after-hours and/or weekends.  The schedule may change during interim weeks and summers.
