Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree plus graduation from an American Medical Association-recognized physician assistant training program, or an equivalent directly related qualification pathway.
  • NCCPA certification upon hire and renewal according to state regulations.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification and cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification.
  • A state physician assistant license in the state of practice.
  • Eight to twelve years of related experience, or a master's degree with six years of experience, or a PhD with three years of experience, or equivalent directly related work experience.
  • Five years of varied technical or procedural experience in diagnostic radiography.
  • Ability to perform invasive procedures under the supervision of a licensed physician and provide a primary technical report to the physician.
  • Ability to act in a professional capacity and serve as a professional role model.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Responsibilities
  • Provide medical services under the direct supervision and direction of a licensed physician and medical director.
  • Perform physician-approved procedures independently and assist with more complex procedures under physician guidance.
  • Obtain patient histories, perform physical examinations, and conduct pre-procedure medical assessments.
  • Perform procedures within the physician-certified scope of practice in the outpatient procedure center.
  • Coordinate and review diagnostic procedure results, laboratory tests, patient studies, and medical reports with the physician to support treatment decisions.
  • Gather and document patient medical history, procedures, incident reports, and significant findings for the physician.
  • Update and maintain patient files and examination documentation.
  • Coordinate with scheduling staff and schedule patients for office hours and procedures after patient assessment.
  • Consult with patients about physical examination findings and possible treatment courses, independently or with the physician.
  • Respond to patient telephone calls and make clinically appropriate follow-up calls.
  • Educate patients and their families about medical findings and procedures.
  • Prepare and label intravenous medication according to medication-labeling and sterile-field policies.
  • Follow patients after procedures in the outpatient setting to ensure appropriate care.
  • Coordinate procedures and required resources, staffing, and pre-procedure, post-procedure, and procedure space to maintain quality and continuity of care.
  • Assist with managing the workflow of the outpatient center.
  • Comply with health and safety policies.
  • Travel between assigned facilities and community locations and attend regional, business unit, or corporate meetings when required.
