Responsibilities
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets across traditional and non-traditional platforms. Serve as CZI and family office spokesperson as needed.
  • Craft compelling pitches and narratives to secure media coverage for key announcements, milestones, and organizational initiatives.
  • Build and nurture partnerships with influencers, bloggers, and other content creators to amplify our brand and message.
  • Blend traditional media with creative, forward-thinking storytelling techniques to expand our audience reach.
  • Identify and mitigate potential issues, manage crisis communications, and respond swiftly to media inquiries.
  • Work closely with brand and communications team members as well as others throughout our organization to align with overall communications objectives.

Seattle Hub For Synthetic Biology Lands $10M To Support Researcher Training And Launch Of Startups

The money comes from the Washington Research Foundation at a time when many researchers are anxious about their futures due to the Trump administration’s promised funding cuts. Seattle Hub opened in January 2024 as a collaboration between the Allen Institute and the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, which are each contributing $35 million to the effort, and the University of Washington, which is providing foundational technology. The Washington Research Foundation, a nonprofit facilitating tech commercialization, previously gave $105,000 to the hub. Seattle Hub is focused on technology that genetically modifies mammalian cells, enabling them to use DNA to make a recording of what the cell is experiencing over time
