Requirements
  • Graduation from a New York State or Regionally accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or Architectural Technology
  • Seven (7) years of architectural experience, two (2) years of which must have been as a licensed architect
  • A valid New York State architect’s license (must be maintained throughout employment in this title)
  • Two (2) years of permanent competitive status as an Assistant Architect or Building Project Coordinator; and possession of a professional architect's license issued by New York State at the time of appointment
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of architecture
  • Thorough knowledge of the planning, design and construction of public buildings
  • Good knowledge of modern developments, current literature and sources of information in the field of architecture
  • Full knowledge of applicable laws and regulatory codes relevant to the construction and renovation of buildings
  • Ability to plan, design and prepare architectural plans and specifications
  • Ability to perform engineering computations and to make comprehensive recommendations on architectural problems
  • Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position
Responsibilities
  • Lead in preparing architectural plans, cost estimates, and project specifications
  • Review consulting architect submissions to ensure alignment with County standards
  • Oversee inspections, approve and recommend phases of construction and payments to contractors
  • Collaborate with a skilled team to bring innovative solutions to life
