- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification through the American Heart Association is required.
- A minimum of one year of experience as an Anesthesia Technician is required.
- Provide approved assistance to anesthesiologists and certified registered nurse anesthetists during induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia.
- Assist anesthesiologists and certified registered nurse anesthetists with placement of regional anesthetics and invasive monitoring devices.
- Maintain the equipment and supplies necessary to provide anesthesia care.
- Apply infection-control and safety principles, including proper handling, cleaning, sterilizing, and disposal of equipment and supplies used in regular and contaminated cases.
- Set up sterile equipment, including intravenous, central venous, arterial, and pulmonary artery catheters, using sterile technique.
- Set up, operate, and disassemble cell saver equipment and rapid infuser devices as assigned.
- Perform standard procedural checks on equipment and report malfunctions to a supervisor.
- Ensure the sterility and cleanliness of specialized equipment, including transesophageal echocardiography equipment, fiber-optic scopes, and laryngeal mask airways.
- Keep workroom areas clean and orderly before, during, and after each shift.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Certification by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians is preferred.
