  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of Experience in Design and Packaging or similar role
  • Excellent communication Team building and relationship building skills.
  • Excellent Catia skills.
  • Direct development or package experience in Vehicle Interiors/Seating
  • Broad vehicle technical knowledge
  • Functional experience with NHTSA/FMVSS, CARB, EPA requirements.
  • Ability and Desire work in a fun and fast paced environment.
Responsibilities
  • The Design/Package Engineer will be responsible for developing system and component CAD using Catia V5 with direction from the Design Responsible Engineer.
  • The Design/Package Engineer will be responsible to ensure component attributes are correct and the data has integrity including Catia tree structure that represents the intended assembly and purchasing plan.
  • The Design/Package Engineer will be responsible to assure manufacturing feasibility on the component initially by applying best practice with supplier and DRE feedback.
  • The Design/Package Engineer will be responsible to ensure all clash and clearance items relative to the component environment are resolved before design is released. This includes all parts in the environment across multiple disciplines.
  • The Design/Package Engineer will be responsible for the total vehicle integration of all components they create and ensure the interface with the vehicle and other components across areas is compatible.
  • This candidate will lead the team to identify and resolve integration and design issues as the vehicle is developed.
  • They will participate in team meetings, working with all product development engineers including systems and components, manufacturing, and service to ensure the technical targets are included in the design and solutions are optimized for cost and weight within the CAD.
  • This candidate will be responsible for giving guidance and constraints to Development Engineers as the component design matures to assure a feasible design.
  • Expected responsibilities and functions include Benchmarking of competitive designs, Weight Management, Durability & Reliability, CAE performance, and others to assure all the component requirements are met and part of the design.
