Requirements
  • Must be a current student at The University of Texas at Austin and meet the University's student employment eligibility requirements, including enrollment in at least six semester credit hours, unless otherwise eligible under University policy.

  • A strong work ethic.
Responsibilities
  • Interact with guests and coworkers in a professional and respectable manner.
  • Conduct regular checks of all building floors and guests to ensure safety, security, and adherence to policies; ask for UT identification when necessary and report suspicious activity.
  • Ensure building equipment in the Texas Union is operating correctly through software and manual inspections, and submit work orders to address problems.
  • Open and close the Texas Union Building.
  • Assist Hospitality Desk workers with their routines and support Housekeeping and audiovisual staff as needed for events and day-to-day operations.
  • Contribute to a written shift report.
  • Provide access to different spaces in the building for University Unions team members.
  • Maintain accurate guest counts for events occurring in the Texas Union and floor counts during closing shifts.
  • Escort nightly deposits.
  • Adjust building temperatures as needed.
  • Respond quickly to emergencies and assist patrons or first responders as needed.
  • Complete administrative tasks as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Responsive and clear communication skills regarding speaking, emails, phone calls, and text messages.
  • Prior employment or experience in a supervisory or managerial position.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time and multiple tasks efficiently while providing quality results.
  • An approachable and friendly personality, the ability to work well with others as a team, and the ability to solve problems independently.
