Aqua Pennsylvania Secures Nearly $78 Million In Low-Interest Loans To Support Installation Of More Than 133,000 Feet Of Water Mains & New Fire Hydrants

Company has been awarded nearly $115 million in low-interest loans and grants from PENNVEST in the past 3-yearsBRYN MAWR, Pa., July 17, 2024--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aqua Pennsylvania announced today it secured low-interest loan funding through the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) to support its ongoing commitment to replace aging infrastructure across Pennsylvania. The $77.5 million in funding will support 21 projects to install new and replace aging water mains and fire hydrants over the next three years, resulting in reduced water loss due to leaks and breaks, and improved service and reliability for tens of thousands of customers in Bucks, Montgomery, Delaware and Chester Counties. These projects will be funded by PENNVEST’s Programmatic Financing (ProFi) program, which allows utilities to seek funding based on annual or multi-year projects, rather than the traditional project-specific lending strategy. Aqua Pennsylvania is the first Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission-regulated water utility to secure funding through the ProFi program."These projects will serve our customers for generations to come. With some pipes in our state dating back decades, this essential work assists in our commitment to provide the highest quality of service for our customers today and well into the future," said Aqua Pennsylvania President Marc Lucca. These projects replace and add 133,400 lineal feet of water mains with more durable, modern materials, reducing the likelihood of main breaks and increasing system reliability in more than a dozen communities served by Aqua Pennsylvania. Improvements include replacing aging pipes in poor condition or those having a history of leaks

Aqua Pennsylvania Files Rate Request Based On Water And Wastewater Operations, Infrastructure Improvements And Repairs Across The Commonwealth

BRYN MAWR, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aqua Pennsylvania Inc. (Aqua) filed an application with the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today requesting an adjustment in water and wastewater rates for its customers. This rate request reflects recovery of the $953 million in infrastructure investments through the end of 2025 and highlights Aqua’s commitment to improving reliability and service for its customers across the commonwealth. “We are at a critical point when it comes to our water and wastewater infrastructure here in Pennsylvania and across the country,” said Aqua Pennsylvania President Marc Lucca. “I am proud to share that our replacement of older pipes that deliver drinking water not only improves customer service by reducing the number of water main breaks and leaks, but also decreases environmental impacts that may occur from these breaks. In addition, we are aggressively responding to new regulations requiring treatment of source water to remove PFAS and replacement of lead service lines, as well as defending against threats from cyber-attacks, which is becoming a more common occurrence throughout our industry.”

Aqua Pennsylvania Secures Up To $6.7 Million Pennvest Grant For Pfas Treatment Facility Serving 25,000 People In Bucks County

BRYN MAWR, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aqua Pennsylvania announced today it has secured grant funding through the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) to construct PFAS treatment at its Edgely Water Treatment facility in Bristol Township. The grant, which provides funding up to $6.7 million, will allow Aqua Pennsylvania to complete the installation of this treatment at no cost to Aqua customers. This new facility will provide additional treatment that will remove PFAS from drinking water for about 25,000 people in Bristol Township and Bristol Borough. Aqua will install six 7-foot diameter filter vessels that will use an ion exchange media to remove PFAS and meet regulatory limits. “We’ve been working for years on testing and removing PFAS from drinking water in the communities we serve in Pennsylvania, setting an aggressive removal target before regulations existed and now continuing to lead the way in this work to meet the new regulations,” said Aqua Pennsylvania President Marc Lucca. “This project highlights our commitment to our customers as well as our efforts to seek alternative funding to mitigate the cost impact on customers.”
