Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Previous clerical experience is required, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • The ability to read and write at level 8, as documented on the hospital's Employee Learning Laboratory software, is required.
  • The ability to set appropriate priorities and organize workflow is required.
  • The ability to concentrate and pay attention to detail during frequent interruptions is required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required to interface with support staff, professional staff, and patients.

Responsibilities
  • Answer the unit telephone and route calls and messages appropriately.
  • Welcome parents and approved visitors and assist with access to the secured unit.
  • Communicate with families, nurses, physicians, and hospital staff.
  • Order, receive, organize, and put away unit supplies.
  • Monitor inventory and notify the appropriate team member when supplies need to be reordered.
  • Restock formula, feeding products, diapers, linens, and other newborn-care items.
  • Maintain clean and organized supply, clerical, and patient-care areas.
  • Assist with unit paperwork and other clerical responsibilities.
  • Support nurses and other care-team members with assigned unit tasks.
  • Occasionally assist with feeding newborns under the direction of licensed staff.
  • Follow hospital confidentiality, safety, infection-prevention, and unit-security procedures.
  • Cross-train and support other areas as needed.

Beth Israel Lahey Health rolls out Heidi's AI scribing to all physicians after 90% report better patient presence

Beth Israel Lahey Health is rolling out Heidi's ambient AI scribing tool to all its physicians following a successful trial across its facilities. The health system, which serves over 6,000 providers across 14 hospitals and 175 primary care practices, prioritises addressing physician burnout, with nearly half of US physicians reporting burnout. During a six-month trial offering Heidi to 1,000 providers, the majority adopted the technology. Survey results showed 89% were satisfied with note quality, 90% felt more present with patients, 74% reduced after-hours work time, and 82% experienced reduced cognitive load during visits. The implementation demonstrates how ambient AI can deliver immediate relief to physicians whilst benefiting patients and the healthcare system. Heidi supports over 2 million consultations weekly globally and has raised $96.6 million from investors including Point72 Private Investments and Blackbird.
