  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field is required.
  • At least 10 years of plumbing design and engineering experience is required.
  • Proficiency with Revit and hydraulic calculation tools is required or expected; Revit is preferred in the posting.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering handbooks, codes, and standards is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related software is required.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities are required, along with attention to detail and effective time management.
  • Occasional domestic and international travel is required, with a valid passport or the ability to obtain one.
  • Compliance with company safety policies and personal protective equipment requirements is mandatory.
Responsibilities
  • Develop conceptual plumbing designs from verbal direction, sketches, or models and incorporate standard notes and details into construction documents.
  • Own the plumbing scope and ensure accuracy, schedule adherence, budget compliance, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and construction professionals to deliver integrated, client-focused solutions.
  • Participate in conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction documentation phases.
  • Perform site surveys, inspections, and evaluations of existing conditions.
  • Apply relevant building codes and standards, including the International Plumbing Code, American Society of Plumbing Engineers standards, Environmental Protection Agency standards, National Fire Protection Association standards, Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards, International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials standards, Food and Drug Administration and United States Department of Agriculture sanitary design guidelines, and 3-A Sanitary Standards.
  • Prepare plumbing engineering drawings, specifications, and technical details.
  • Incorporate hygienic design principles, including stainless steel piping, air gaps, indirect waste, and clean-in-place/steam-in-place systems, when needed.
  • Review and approve shop drawings, material submittals, and requests for information.
  • Provide technical guidance, quality assurance, and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
  • Assist in maintaining plumbing design standards and company-wide quality control.
  • Follow company quality control and project management procedures.
  • Support project managers in client meetings, presentations, and proposal development.
  • Lift and carry up to 10 pounds regularly and perform required physical activities in office and construction-site environments.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in the food and beverage sector is a plus.
  • Professional Engineer licensure is preferred.
  • Experience with Scrum and Lean Design/Construction is preferred.
  • Familiarity with fire protection design is a plus.
