POSITION SUMMARY:
Marathon Pipe Line (MPL) is seeking an individual to serve as the Learning & Development Supervisor. The L&D Supervisor will oversee the learning and development initiatives for all MPL employees, both hourly and salary, as well as the Operator Qualification Program as regulated by the Pipeline and Hazards Material Safety Administration. This position will also lead a staff of Learning Consultants and an Analytical Processor who are located in various locations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides leadership and guidance to the business unit regarding learning and development programs.
Develops training and certification policies, plans, and programs for one or more employee groups. Provides guidance and technical assistance to managers, supervisors, and other leaders in organizing and implementing such programs.
Delivers and evaluates various training programs to ensure employees are fully trained and qualified. May prepare orientation programs for new employees.
Maintains relationships with outside vendors, and directs vendors and contractors in the design, development, and delivery of compliance and other training programs.
Maintains a working knowledge of governmental regulations and ensures proper training is in place to satisfy these regulations.
Keeps informed of the latest developments and techniques in the training and development field. Applies adult learning theory and cognitive learning theory to ensure learning solutions generate performance improvement.
Ensures accurate training records and ensures they can be properly maintained in a readily accessible form. Ensures proper administration of the Learning Management System.
Coordinates the implementation of learning initiatives to ensure consistency and effective use of resources; ensures learning solutions are aligned with corporate guidelines.
Maintains department budget and may oversee centralized training budget for the business unit.
Collaborates with Leadership in the development of training and learning plans for employees.
Oversees training component of Process Safety Management Program, including training materials and evaluation of specific skills at designated PSM sites.
Evaluates effectiveness of materials delivered with regard to meeting business needs.
Support other departments in the development and delivery of training.
Act as a change champion to ensure training methodologies and content stay current to serve the needs of the workers and business.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
Eight (8) years of experience in training or operations required
Formal supervisory experience or other leadership experience is highly preferred
- Travel requirement is once or twice a quarter
