Requirements
  • 5-7 years of experience in a rental operations setting in a similar industry.
  • Strong technical and financial aptitude, analytical ability, problem-solving, decision-making, time-management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of training and support capabilities within the Caterpillar organization.
  • Knowledge of rental-store startup procedures and working knowledge of rental-store operations, sales, service, and systems.
  • Ability to perform and explain every job in the rental store.
  • Ability to organize and deliver basic rental training on products, operations, sales, service, and systems.
  • Assessment techniques for examining, questioning, evaluating, and reporting on each store's performance.
  • Ability to delegate effectively and keep the branch on track.
  • Understanding of basic financial reporting, including profit-and-loss statements and balance sheets, and ability to control branch expenses and monitor general-ledger distribution for accurate monthly reporting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; DBS; iRental; SalesLink; and SAP.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, including standing, walking, sitting, using hands, reaching, talking, hearing, and frequently lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 25 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Manage Construction Division rental operations for a CAT Rental Store/Heavy Rents location serving construction, industrial, and commercial customers while promoting safety, operational excellence, and asset return on investment.
  • Champion safety and customer service as core team practices and build them into the team's culture.
  • Lead a team of rental coordinators, supervisors, drivers, and support staff.
  • Hire, develop, lead, and empower employees to make sound business decisions.
  • Create and manage training and development plans for all team members.
  • Partner with other leaders to implement the rental strategy and vision supporting growth, profitability, and market-share objectives.
  • Monitor branch performance and identify opportunities to improve business processes and procedures.
  • Manage the fleet proactively and monitor expenses to ensure profitability and strong financial performance.
  • Manage fleet utilization, unavailable and slow rents, return-to-ready processes, freight, fuel, and damage recovery for CRS and Heavy Rents.
  • Manage inventory control, accuracy, and loss prevention.
  • Manage daily operational dashboards and reports.
  • Verify compliance with rental agreements, phone logs, and Department of Transportation material.
  • Co-develop inventory budgets and the inventory business plan with the district rental operations team.
  • Prepare and monitor periodic forecasts.
  • Review operating statements and other financial reports weekly and provide accurate monthly estimates as needed.
  • Mediate employee and customer disputes.
  • Work with sales and marketing team members to stay informed about market conditions, competitors, utilization trends, and customer needs.
  • Maintain routine direct customer contact to ensure customer satisfaction.
