Requirements
  • Les Mills certification for the appropriate format is required.
  • All job-required trainings must be completed within 90 days of hire.
  • Strong communication skills and the capability to work with members of all fitness levels and abilities are required.
  • Knowledge of fitness principles and their practical applications is required.
  • Staff must be fingerprinted before reporting to work and comply with subsequent arrest notifications.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid Certification covering adults and children/infants must be obtained within 30 days of hire from the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or American Safety & Health Institute.
  • Ability to communicate verbally to large and small groups of members.
  • Physical ability to lead and participate in exercise and fitness activities.
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
Responsibilities
  • Create a positive member experience by welcoming participants and ensuring they are actively engaged in their workout.
  • Provide a safe workout routine by demonstrating proper form and technique, appropriate modifications, and cueing.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workout area.
  • Effectively utilize scheduled class time.
  • Set up and break down class equipment properly within the allotted timeframe.
  • Build community by forming positive relationships, learning members' names, and helping them reach their health and wellness goals.
  • Adhere to the core functions of the YMCA and exemplify YMCA Group Exercise Class Guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • One or more years of experience leading Les Mills exercise classes.
