Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Annual competencies must be maintained.
  • The candidate must be able to understand and implement a variety of detailed instructions in the execution of therapeutic procedures.
  • The candidate must be able to make accurate physical observations of patients.
  • The candidate must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • The candidate must hold certification through an accepted certifying organization as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification is required through the American Heart Association or an American Heart Association-recognized equivalent, or American Red Cross CPR/AED certification for professional rescuers and healthcare providers.
  • The candidate must be able to perform the listed standing, sitting, walking, stair-climbing, elevated-area, confined-space, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting, grasping, reaching, repetitive-motion, balance, lifting, carrying, pushing, vision, color-discrimination, depth-perception, hearing, tactile-sensory, olfactory-sensory, and fine-motor functions.
  • The candidate must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds unassisted, lift or lower 50-pound objects between the floor and 36 inches unassisted, lift 25 pounds from 36 inches to overhead, and exert up to 50 pounds of force.
  • The candidate must be able to deal effectively with stressful situations, work rotating shifts and overtime as required, work in a latex-safe environment, and qualify physically for respirator use initially and as required.
Responsibilities
  • Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record or enter patient information into the medical record.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations.
  • Assist with examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
Desired Qualifications
  • Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with one year of patient care experience is preferred.
