Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree is preferred, or up to one year of related experience and/or training is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with an enterprise resource planning system or equivalent system is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing and to learn and interpret instructions.
  • Ability to remain stationary and move or position oneself as needed.
  • Ability to operate a computer, telephone, and other productivity equipment.
  • Ability to work under varying degrees of workplace stress while accepting constructive feedback.
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills and the ability to handle confrontation diplomatically.
  • Successful completion of employment verifications, a background check, a drug screen, and a driving record check if applicable.
Responsibilities
  • Order, research, and release materials, services, and supplies for projects, including custom and stock products, in a timely manner.
  • Apply basic skills while developing specialized skills in procedures, operations, techniques, tools, materials, and equipment appropriate to the job functions.
  • Monitor and analyze inventory throughout the procurement lifecycle and perform cycle counts and audits for the location, division, and/or region.
  • Review open purchase orders, timely confirmations, shortage reports, planned order reports, and price variances.
  • Follow up with vendors to reduce material and supply costs, improve freight economies, increase inventory turns, and negotiate favorable payment terms.
  • Maintain consistent pricing through knowledge of vendor territory pricing.
  • Work with Corporate Accounts Payable to capture all early payment discounts.
  • Resolve supplier issues involving delivery dates, quality, specifications, quantity, or cost of purchased goods or services, and provide management with updates on material arrivals and issues affecting project schedules.
  • Monitor supplier performance, contract effectiveness, collaboration, and integration, and work with key suppliers to improve results for assigned projects.
  • Assist the Purchasing Manager and Corporate Procurement in finding and developing suppliers to expand the supply base and drive competitive cost advantages.
  • Follow up on delivery requirements and communicate with sales and project managers to determine priorities and requirements, minimize inventory value, and maximize cash flow.
  • Acquire knowledge of project and stock parts to offer substitutions that benefit cost and timing.
  • Coordinate with administrative staff to ensure data-entry accuracy and reduce costs.
  • Ensure returned goods authorization materials are handled promptly and job costs are accurate.
  • Participate in physical inventories.
  • Work overtime as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
