A bit about the role:
The media team at Cantina is creating one of the most advanced platforms for real-time and streaming media in the world. We’re looking for a driven, detail-oriented, and accountable manager for our quality engineering team. The media quality engineering team comprises a diverse collection of skilled engineers who create and execute manual test plans for media software components. This role requires strong project management, interpersonal, and technical skills.
Please note: this is not a team that is focused on user interface or application feature testing. The media quality engineering team is responsible for ensuring that video chat and streaming functionality within the Cantina application is as robust and reliable as possible.
A bit about the work:
Manage quality engineers across multiple projects.
Keep tabs on ongoing work in each project.
Develop an understanding of the media system architecture and how different components relate to one another.
Review the work of individual quality engineers, including test plans, test strategy documentation, and, as needed, individual bugs.
Establish and enforce standards for processes, procedures, and documentation.
Actively support the growth and development of members of the quality team.
Additionally, you will oversee the work of the test automation team, which creates automated test infrastructure for media platform components.
A bit about you:
Minimum of 10 years in a quality engineering or software engineering role.
Minimum of 2 years as a manager of a quality engineering team.
Documented history of building teams and supporting the growth of quality engineers.
Extremely strong written and oral communication skills.
Willingness to be accountable for the success of media quality initiatives and the quality team’s role in ensuring the timely delivery of new features and capabilities.
Understanding of the principles behind agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban.
Experience using project management and tracking tools like Jira and TestRail.
Familiarity with testing tools like Charles Proxy and Network Link Conditioner.
Prior experience developing software using languages like JavaScript or C++ will be helpful in supporting the members of the team who are focused on test automation.
Location:
We have offices located in Sunnyvale, CA, San Francisco, CA and Brooklyn, NY. Our Media Engineering team strongly desires candidates available to work in the Bay Area, in a hybrid setting. For reference, 95% of the Media Engineering team works from the Bay Area.
Pay Equity:
In compliance with Pay Transparency Laws, the total compensation range for this role is between $170,000-$200,000. When determining compensation, a number of factors will be considered, including skills, experience, job scope, location, and competitive compensation market data.
