Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience in an accounting clerical, front office, reservations, or similar position, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Fluent English-speaking ability.
  • Availability to work varying shifts across a seven-day period, including weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
  • Reading ability sufficient to read invoices and work materials.
  • Mathematical ability to perform calculations and reconcile account balances.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays as required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform routine accounting duties to ensure correct reporting of revenues and costs, timely payment of invoices, and timely receipt of monies owed to the hotel.
  • Summarize and post data to journals, ledgers, and other accounting records; total and balance accounts; reconcile bank accounts; and check and verify records.
  • Obtain department-head approvals on invoices, make accounting entries in the ledger, reconcile vendor discrepancies, and prepare invoice transmittals for payment by CMH Accounting.
  • Prepare and monitor monthly aging of accounts, prepare statements and collection letters for delinquent accounts, and call customers regarding excessively overdue accounts.
  • Approve and process direct billing requests, prepare bills and invoice statements, and research and resolve credit card disputes through appropriate adjustments or chargebacks.
  • Prepare, balance, and reconcile credit card transmittals and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain accounting-related and audit documentation files and assist with clerical duties such as typing or phone coverage.
  • Prepare or assist with daily bank deposits; maintain hotel funds securely and accurately; provide daily change requirements; issue banks to cashiers; and conduct periodic bank audits.
  • Report overages and shortages in accordance with Internal Audit Standards.
  • Maintain routine controls that provide reasonable protection of company assets.
  • Communicate and coordinate with hotel departments regarding account information.
  • Assist with receiving, storing, and distributing hotel goods and reconcile banquet bar requisitions.
  • Transfer a balanced EDT daily, maintain compliance with Internal Control Questionnaires, process employee payments, reconcile time records to payroll, maintain purchase-order system integrity, and monitor other financial-control procedures or systems.
  • Perform additional accounting-related duties as needed or requested.
