About the Role:

The Operations team at Inscopix is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer Intern to support developing and implementing streamlined product manufacturing and test processes, developing assembly and test fixtures, troubleshooting RMAs, maintaining and creating manufacturing documentation, and providing DFM feedback and assisting in related sustaining engineering. This is a great opportunity for someone to collaborate alongside manufacturing engineers and develop their engineering skills and the production team who create all products developed by Inscopix. You will have the unique opportunity to work with a multi-faceted product, comprising optical, mechanical and electronic components, and thrive in an interdisciplinary environment.

This is not a summer internship. This position is open-ended (no defined end date) designed specifically for individuals looking to gain real work experience while continuing their studies.

What you will be doing:

• Your exact role will be determined by your existing experience as well as areas you identify as wanting to learn/grow into. Here are some examples of responsibilities you may be asked to take on:
• Contribute to early and on-going operations involvement to ensure new products are designed for manufacturability and propose alternative manufacturing approaches.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing and improve productivity and reduce costs.
• Release and maintenance of product assembly drawings, bill of materials, and component drawings.
• Develop effective assembly procedures, QA procedures, and process control documents.
• Establish manufacturing process flow diagrams and process validation procedures.
• Evaluate process capability and identify areas for improvement.
• Follow Inscopix safety policies and procedures.
• Perform special projects as needed and other duties as assigned.

What we’re looking for:

• BS in Mechanical Engineering, or current enrollment within university program.
• Mechanical design aptitude with standard 3D CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks).
• Thorough, detail-oriented with good troubleshooting skills and ability to think at a systems level.
• Capable of assuming responsibility for accurate and comprehensive Design History Records and engineering/manufacturing documentation.
• Experience developing documentation and procedures for manufacturing and service teams.
• Proven abilities as a team player working in an interdisciplinary environment.
