Based in our Research & Development group, the laboratory technician will provide technical laboratory and processing support and assist in Research & Development activities, including the development of new products and product characterization. This position must independently perform routine tissue processing, assist in conducting laboratory experiments, and assist in analyzing findings in collaboration with a supervisor. This position will also be responsible for general laboratory management and maintenance activities and performing tasks across multiple project timelines. Excellent time management and organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-driven environment are required.
Responsibilities
- Performing routine laboratory experiments in a timely fashion, under the direction of a supervisor and according to established protocols to support project deadlines
- Independently and routinely generating processes tissue samples in a timely fashion and according to established requirements
- Assisting in various development and process improvement projects under the direction of a supervisor
- Providing clear reports of process variables, results, and basic data analysis
- Assisting with ordering, performing general lab maintenance activities such as maintaining laboratory safety documentation, biohazardous waste disposal, reagent batching, and tissue inventory
- Maintaining clear, thorough, and accurate records
- Regularly lift up to 50lbs
- Performing data analysis and review milestones under direction of supervisor
- Following all applicable Company test methods, work instructions, S.O.P.’s, and guidelines
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or related experience in an academic or industry laboratory setting
- One (1) to three (3) years of relevant work experience
REQUIRED SKILLS
- High-energy and motivated worker with proven ability to learn and act on dynamic information at a rapid pace
- Excellent communications skills with the ability to follow oral and written instructions in a laboratory environment
- Excellent organizational skills to support laboratory functions
- Ability to time manage multiple laboratory tasks simultaneously
- Proficient with basic laboratory assays (e.g. BCA, ELISA, SDS-PAGE, Western blots)
- Ability to quickly learn and develop technical skills in laboratory environment
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
- Experience processing and handling human and animal tissue
- Understanding of laboratory safety procedures and good laboratory practices
- Facile in a laboratory environment and with record keeping
- Proficient in MS Word and Excel
