Requirements
  • Valid Washington State Food Handler’s Permit
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions in English
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to perform simple math
  • Ability to understand simple measurements and conversions
  • Ability to plan and organize work
  • Ability to set up trays and plates in accordance with diet orders and interpret specifications and standards
  • Ability to work in close cooperation with our residents, guests, visitors, families, supervisor and peers
  • Requires empathy for older adults
  • Must be able to stand/walk for 100% of the workday
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. independently
  • Must be able to push and pull tray/bus/transport carts weighing up to 50 lbs. independently
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, and balance frequently throughout the workday
  • Must be able to see, hear, and speak
  • May be exposed to extreme temperatures from the ovens and freezers
  • May be exposed to industrial cleaning chemicals
  • May be exposed to communicable diseases including the HIV and Hepatitis B virus
  • May be exposed to offensive odors
Responsibilities
  • Prepare therapeutic desserts and salads as required
  • Serve meals in our health center
  • Set up tables in the health center dining room and break them down after the meal
  • Transport hot and cold foods to and from the health center
  • Maintain station equipment and work area in a safe and sanitary condition
  • Maintain acceptable standards of personal hygiene and comply with department dress code
  • Attend in-service training and education as assigned
  • Perform other specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience in nursing home food service preferred.
