Requirements
  • Undergraduate or Graduate student majoring in Mechanical Engineering or other electromechanical engineering field.
  • Significant hands on experience through previous internship experience, design competitions such as: FIRST, VEX, Design/Build/Fly, Human Powered Vehicle, Formula SAE, University robotics or car automation teams.
  • Previous hands-on engineering experience with 3D printing (FDM, SLA), basic machine shop tools, Solidworks or Onshape designing simple to complex mechanical structures and mechanisms.
  • Basic understanding of brushless motors, different sensors, power transmission methods, etc.
  • A demonstrated desire to play an important role in a small, lean, medical device start-up.
  • Inventive and balanced with discipline and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
  • Design, build and test prototypes to solve difficult robotic, clinical, and manufacturing problems.
  • Develop unique solutions to enable manufacturing automation of assembly processes to impact capabilities and outcomes.
  • Understand the design process from requirements definition though test. Working with cross functional partners along the way.
  • Develop novel designs and test fixtures using CAD programs such as Solidworks.
  • Develop test methods and protocols to test solutions and evaluate performance using engineering rigor and adequate sample size to draw strong conclusions.
  • Present findings and solutions to cross functional teams, solicit feedback, and iterate.
  • Work well both independently and as part of a fast-moving, collaborative team.
