Requirements
  • Several years of professional experience owning and advancing quality engineering for data-intensive, high-performance processing systems.
  • Hands-on experience designing measurements and quality signals for correctness, runtime, scalability, and resource consumption across CPU, GPU, memory, storage, and input/output.
  • A systematic, data-driven approach to investigating failures, diagnosing regressions, and distinguishing deterministic defects from effects caused by concurrency, parallelism, or non-deterministic system behavior.
  • Solid Python skills and practical experience with PyTest or comparable test frameworks, combined with the ability to read unfamiliar code and build a strong understanding of complex systems.
  • Practical experience working with Linux, Docker, and Kubernetes in development or production-like environments.
  • Sound engineering judgment and a holistic mindset applied to prioritizing between functional quality, performance, reliability, delivery speed, and infrastructure cost.
  • Interest in applying artificial intelligence beyond personal productivity to improve quality-assurance systems and automation, such as turning observability signals into diagnoses, test cases, fixes, or pull requests.
Responsibilities
  • Establish and evolve the team’s quality-engineering system, including test strategy, standards, tooling, data, and feedback loops, while making quality a shared responsibility across the engineering team.
  • Design and build sustainable automated coverage for complex, large-scale data-processing workflows, focusing effort where it delivers the greatest reduction in risk, cost, and recurring manual work.
  • Ensure robust quality across advanced 3D capabilities, from point-cloud and Gaussian Splat ingestion through processing and streaming to the final web experience.
  • Identify areas where the system is most likely to fail, including data edge cases, performance bottlenecks, orchestration issues, evolving interfaces, and cross-team dependencies, and translate those risks into effective test coverage.
  • Validate functional correctness, user experience, reliability, scalability, performance, and resource efficiency under realistic operating conditions.
  • Develop a scalable test-data strategy for large, complex, and continuously evolving spatial datasets, file formats, and data structures.
  • Enable developers and other team members through clear guidelines, practical test protocols, tooling, and quality signals so they can perform effective pull-request and release validation, while contributing hands-on manual testing selectively where additional expertise is most valuable.

NavVis raises $120m to accelerate its AI roadmap. By jnally on 17 August, 2026 Munich-based NavVis has raised $120 million to build its massive spatial data engine and accelerate the AI product roadmap. The investment round was led by US private equity firm The Jordan Company and existing shareholders Yttrium, KOZO KEIKAKU ENGINEERING and Cipio Partners. The company claims that more than 150,000 users in engineering, maintenance and construction teams across 50 countries rely on data produced by its systems, and that more than a billion square metres were scanned, processed and distributed in 2025 alone. NavVis says it plans to invest the funds raised into the next generation of technology and infrastructure required to scale spatial data turnover by another order of magnitude. This includes the AI layer required to "make spatial data semantic, actionable and accessible" for millions of operators, "as well as to the robots and agents that will bring physical AI into construction and industry". "Our mission is to keep the physical and digital reality synchronised for the world's most valuable assets," said NavVis co-founder and CEO, Dr Felix Reinshagen. "Its customers are the most demanding operators on Earth. And they are trusting Spatial Source with billions of square metres of spatial data of their most mission critical infrastructure. "We have raised this round to do even more: More scalability, more intelligence and ultimately more productivity for the underlaying assets." August 13, 2026 To fund a significant expansion of its data infrastructure and a deeper push into AI, NavVis has raised US$85 million in funding. The fresh capital injection comes at a time when the Munich-based provider of spatial data capture and management technology for industrial and construction clients is looking to cement its position as a system of record for physical facilities and extend its reach in the US market. The round was led by US private equity firm The Jordan Company (TJC), with existing backers Yttrium, together with a consortium of industrial family offices - Kozo Keikaku Engineering Inc. (KKE) and Cipio Partners also participating. NavVis's core business is capturing detailed 3D scans of factories, urban environments, construction sites and other large facilities, then organizing that data through its cloud platform, NavVis IVION, so that engineering, maintenance and construction teams can reference an up-to-date model of a physical site rather than relying on outdated blueprints. The company's advanced VLX and MLX mapping devices are built to replace slower, traditional surveying with a faster, more efficient way to capture complex sites. According to NavVis, more than a billion square metres of industrial plants, construction sites and buildings were added to its platform in 2025 alone, and more than two billion square metres are now represented across the system. NavVis says over 150,000 users at engineering, maintenance and construction organizations use its data, with applications such as reducing downtime on automotive assembly lines, speeding up data-centre construction and shortening maintenance shutdowns at refineries. The data is used in planning robotics deployments and training industrial AI models. NavVis reports more than 1,500 customers across over 50 countries, including automakers BMW, Volkswagen, Toyota and Mercedes-Benz, and industrial firms ExxonMobil, BASF, Henkel, Bosch, KION and Siemens. It also has partnerships with SAP, NVIDIA and Autodesk. Funding to support scaling and AI development. Proceeds from the round will go toward scaling its data-processing capacity and building out an AI layer intended to make spatial data more directly usable, both for human operators and, eventually, for robots and autonomous systems operating in industrial and construction settings. NavVis also plans to expand its commercial presence in the United States, which it describes as its fastest-growing market in recent years. Co-founder and CEO Felix Reinshagen sees the round as central to that expansion. He said the company's customers are trusting it with large volumes of spatial data covering critical infrastructure, and that the new funding is meant to increase the platform's scalability and intelligence - and, in turn, the productivity gains it can offer to asset operators. He added that the company will put particular emphasis on growing its US business. Co-founder and CTO Georg Schroth described the shift the company is aiming to drive in how physical facilities are documented and managed. Historically, he said, work in industrial and construction settings has depended on drawings that no one fully trusts. Buildots adds laser scanning through NavVis partnership. Construction intelligence platform gains survey-grade reality capture, viewable alongside progress data and BIM. Buildots has added laser scanning to its construction intelligence platform through a partnership with reality-capture specialist NavVis, bringing survey-grade precision to the system for the first time. The company is positioning the capability at mission-critical and mega-projects - data centres, semiconductor fabs and hospitals among them - where dimensional tolerances are tight and as-built accuracy has to be verified rather than assumed. Buildots' platform already builds a verified visual record of construction progress, largely from 360-degree imagery captured on site. Laser scanning adds a more precise layer on top of that record, giving teams survey-grade data to confirm dimensions, clearances and installation accuracy where it matters most, and to check for clashes between installed work and the model. Data can be captured using NavVis's own hardware - the VLX wearable and MLX handheld mobile mapping systems - or any laser scanner that outputs the industry-standard E57 format. Buildots says the capability is available to all customers now and is already in use on large-scale projects, including work within Intel's semiconductor fab construction programme. The integration continues a steady broadening of the Buildots platform beyond its original visual progress-tracking roots. The company has recently added superstructure tracking for the structural phase and folded the workforce-tracking technology from its Genda acquisition into a Buildots Field brand - part of a wider repositioning around the idea of "construction intelligence".
